THE EVENT Format Triathlon Relay Up to 6 people in a team 6 laps of the course, each lap is 200m swim leg, a 5.3km cycle leg and a 1.5km run leg Timing & Chip The Timing Chip will act as a baton. It is on an ankle strap which should be passed onto the individual doing the next leg. Transition When the swimmer comes out of the water, run to transition. Once chip is on ankle of next individual then they can un-rack bike to complete bike leg. When cyclist has finished, they must go into transition to hand the timing chip to runner. Once the runner has completed, they must NOT go through finish line but peel off to give baton (chip) to participant doing the swimming leg (second round). FINAL run leg, go through finish line where team members can join to finish together.
REGISTRATION REGISTRATION Registration will take place from 08.30am in the registration marquee. Here you will collect your race pack containing all your race numbers. There will be 6 race numbers (one for each team member) that are labelled A to F, but only 1 timing chip. Please note the A to F will correspond to your name on our system, not the order in which you have to complete your legs. Packs should be collected individually rather than one team member collecting all packs on behalf of the whole team. Only competitors are allowed in transition area. You will be given a security numbered wristband attached at registration. This wristband allows access in/out of the transition area and may only be removed by crew checking your equipment on final departure from Transition. Please secure your paper number to your FRONT with four safety pins, or use a race belt. There are sticky labelled numbers for your bike and helmet. Please have these attached before entering the transition area. You will be allocated a space for your team in transition and bikes must be racked at your allocated number spot.
REGISTRATION ELECTRONIC TIMING Collect your timing chip before you leave the registration marquee. THIS ACTS AS YOUR RELAY BATON. This should be threaded through the Velcro strap and attached around your left ankle as low down as possible After each leg, this should be taken off and attached around the ankle of the next triathlete in your team. If you forget to do this, we won t have accurate timings for your team. We will endeavour to provide all timing splits, but this is not guaranteed.

Your cycle helmet is to be on and fastened before you touch your bike and remain on and done up until after your bike is racked. It is forbidden to cycle in Transition. Drafting is forbidden on the bike. Drafting is cycling too closely behind another cyclist and gaining an advantage. The drafting zone is 10m, so keep at least 10m behind the cyclist in front, unless you are overtaking over a 20 second period. For more information and the latest rules, visit the BTF website.
EVENT RULES Triathlon Rules The wearing of wetsuits in triathlon is governed by British Triathlon rules and is totally dependent on a water temperature reading one hour before the event start. The likelihood is that wetsuits will be optional but we always recommend you swim in one as they help with buoyancy and warmth. We have teamed up with Zone3 to offer wetsuit day hire or outright purchase at great prices which is available here.
SAFETY Medical teams and ambulances will be on standby in case of accidents. If you see an incident, please report it to the nearest marshal who will alert the medical team. For your safety in the water, water based safety teams will be positioned along the swim course as well as shore based lifeguards. IMPORTANT: Please write any medical details on the back of your race number and put a small indelible red cross on the front of your number to indicate a known medical issue. Whether you have a medical condition or not, if you feel unwell - don t race!
