The World-Renowned Architect of the Premier Campus Office JULIEN DE SMEDT Julien De Smedt was born in Brussels, on December 3, 1975. He is the founder and director of JDS Architects with offices in Brussels, Copenhagen, Belo Horizonte and Shanghai. Before founding JDS Architects he worked in OMA with Rem Koolhaas and then he founded and directed PLOT in Copenhagen with Bjarke Ingels. Among the many awards that he received, one can include Henning Larsen Award (2003) and Eckersberg Medal (2005). In 2013 Julien De Smedt was given Architizer A+ Award (Sports Facility) for the Holmenkollen Ski Jump and the Architizer A + Award (Residential Project) and MIPIM Award (Residential Project) with Iceberg Dwellings. Additionally in 2004 Venice Biennale he received the World s Best Concert Hall Award for his Stavanger Concert Hall. His Maritime Youth House received the London based AR+D award, WAN-World Architecture News 21 for 21 Award (The Most Successful Architects of 21 st Century) and many other awards along his successful career. JULIEN DE SMEDT: Premier Campus Office is a new office project that focuses on the work and life quality of its users and interprets its presence in İstanbul as a new conceptual and urban approach. While designing Premier Campus Office we have paid special attention to its interaction with its environment. The mass of the building was intentionally and literally carved out so that it invites those around it. The unique geography of İstanbul with its up and down hills was continued both in the plan that fits with the edges of the district and in the building with its delicate curves that reflect the waves of nearby Bosphorus. The lively commercial life at the ground floor is then carried on in the piazzas and gardens. The upper floor offices access green terraces covered with rich flora that lighten the muggy effect of spring and summer. Although the borders of the project are obvious, it still opens itself up to the rest of the city from a distance. When we reach the inner spaces, we begin to see a more intimate and private atmosphere bolstered with the effect of the shades that provide sun protection. The project has a symbolic function, encouraging a contemporary cultural, architectural and life style in İstanbul business life. We have a designed a building that is flexible enough to offer everyone their desired space and location, regardless of the number of employees. We believe that life has various aspects and different establishments can live together and share their experiences with each other. DB Architects / Bünyamin Derman Bünyamin Derman was born in 1965, in Ereğli. He graduated from Yildiz Technical University in 1990 with an MA in Architecture. He taught in the architectural design studios of the same university between 1988 and 1996, and of the İstanbul Cultural University between 1999 and 2004. In 1995, he founded the DB Architects and Consultancy Limited with Dilek Topuz Derman. Derman continues his professional work in his own offices.
