2 Welcome to an inspiring challenge As a member of the UEG - TC Gymnastic for All and the Swedish Gymnastic Federation I am glad and proud to welcome you to Helsingborg, Sweden, for the test event for Gym for Youth Challenge Music, Joy, Entertainment and Innovation are some keywords for this first, test event, which also is another opportunity for the youth in Europe to get together, have fun and inspire each other to develop choreography and to improve their performances. My dream is to see a lot of youngsters enjoying the event and taking an active part to develop the Gym for Youth Challenge to an official event in the future. Hope to see you all in Helsingborg! Maria Ståhl WHAT IS EUROPE GYM FOR YOUTH CHALLENGE? The first edition of this contest, Europe Gym for Youth Challenge (EGFY), is a test event and will take place on 12 July 2014 in Helsingborg Arena, Sweden. Participating teams will be evaluated from some different aspects and will also be given feedback on their performance by trained choreographers. Teams can register for the challenge only, or stay for the entire 9th EUROGYM 2014 Festival. Age Minimum age is 12 years. However, it is allowed for 10% of the participants in each team to be 10 or 11 years. Team The minimum team consists of 6 gymnasts. Performance time Maximum 3 minutes including entering and exit. In case of the use of apparatus the preparation will be seen as a part of the performance. Music Music plays an important role and will be considered for the evaluation. The team s music has to be sent to the organizers beforehand. You will find more information on the registration site. 2

3 PRELIMINARY SCHEDULE The opening parade will be the teams marching in behind their national flag. Number of performances Each group performs once and is then evaluated. Groups The Test event will have a limit of 60 groups In the case of the event oversubscribe the UEG reserves the right to restrict the number of group per National Federation Performing area There will be two performing areas, 14 x 14 m each. One of them will be equipped with roller mats. In the interest of a quick running contest, both areas will be used at the same time. At registration, please choose the type of floor area (mats or no mats) desired. 4 Rehearsal Each group will be offered time for a short rehearsal/orientation (parts of the performance only). If possible, depending of the number of registrated groups, a full general rehearsal can take place. Warming up A warming up area will be provided near the performance area. Categories There will only be one category. Depending on the number of registrated groups, more categories will be offered (e.g. large groups/small groups) Linkan Evaluation Each performance will be evaluated on the following criteria: - Entertainment value - Innovation, originality and variety - Technique, quality and skill safety - Overall impression All criteria have equal value. The evaluation will be carried out by a panel of experts with a broad experience who will be selected by UEG TC GfA. Feedback Each group have the opportunity to get feedback on their performance. Results The score will be used to establish who will be awarded with bronze, silver or gold diploma. All teams receive a souvenir. All the scores are only viewed by the evaluators. 4

5 BULLETIN 1 No. ACCOMMODATION Participants All participants will be staying at schools. 2-night accommodation is included in the participant fee. Most participants will be staying within walking distance of Helsingborg Arena people will stay in each classroom, with sanitary facilities close by. Breakfast will be served in connection to the schools. Through our volunteers there will be 24-hour service at all schools and security will also be provided for. All schools have been inspected by the fire authorities and are approved for overnight accommodations. Please bring your own sleeping bag and inflatable mattress. Official Delegation Hotel The official hotel for the UEG and special invited guests is Clarion Grand Hotel. It is perfectly situated at Stortorget in the centre of Helsingborg, only 200 metres from Knutpunkten, with train and bus services and ferries to Denmark. The hotel has undergone an extensive renovation and rooms and conference areas have been upgraded. The renovation also resulted in a small hotel mall near the lobby where you may avail yourself of Grand Coffee, Grand Lounge Bar & Restaurant with the Piano bar, a Newspaper stall and a Japanese City Spa. The morning meetings will take place at one of the conference rooms at Clarion Grand Hotel. After the registration opens, you will find a link to accommodation booking at our website eurogym2014.org. 6 TRAVEL/TRANSPORTATION At registration you need to inform us about your transportation and your time of arrival and departure. Please visit eurogym2014.org for registration. Airport transfer If you wish to reserve airport transfer, please check the box Airport transfer. In the additional information field, please state which size of bus you prefer and how many places you wish to book. Please provide us with similar information for your return travel. The train from Copenhagen airport is often over crowded and it not possible to reserve seats. (Current price in July 2013 is 186 SEK one way. This is subject to change). By bus or car If you take your own car or bus it s easiest to get to Helsingborg via the Öresund Bridge from Copenhagen to Malmö. Car/bus parking will be provided. BraBilder, Janne Hallqvist 6

7 MEALS 2 Lunches and 1 dinner will be served in a hall next to Helsingborg Arena. Focus is on healthy and environmentally friendly food: sustainable fish, seasonal vegetables (mainly from local farmers) and less beef (for climate reasons). All meals suppliers are HACCP certified auditors (food safety certification). Alternative meals are only available for those registered as vegetarians or participants with special dietary requests. Please remember to indicate this in your registration. INSURANCE All participants have to provide proof of adequate health and accident insurance coverage. Each team is responsible for making its own arrangements to have the necessary valid insurance co-verage against illness, accidents and for repatriation for all the members of their delegation. The organizing Committee will provide sports insurance for anyone who desires this service at a cost of 10 per person (for more information, see the registration site). All teams that have their own insurance must provide proof (named declaration with policy number) at the accreditation. If you lack sufficient insurance the sports insurance can be purchased on site. ENROLMENT SCHEDULE October 1st 2013 Enrolment will be done online and will be found on the 9th EUROGYM 2014 website. You will find detailed information and guidelines November 13th 2013 Preliminary registration. Pre-enrolment and 10% of the registration fee February 28th 2014 April 13th 2014 Final registration Full payment must be made FEE The registration fee is 65 EUR or 600 SEK. The participant card includes (11-13 July): School accommodation incl. breakfast (2 nights) Meals (2 lunches + 1 dinner) If you register for both the Europe Gym for Youth Challenge 2014 and 9th EUROGYM 2014 the registration fee is 290 EUR or 2600 SEK. REFUND POLICY The 10% is non refundable. 50% refund until 31 May No refunds after 1 June Late payment will attract 10% surcharge. 7
