Danish and Nordic Championship Albin Express Horsens Yacht Club 26th - 28th of August 2011 NOTICE OF RACE 1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing. 1.2 The applying prescriptions of the Scandinavian Sailing Association and the Danish Sailing Association will be incorporated into the sailing instructions. 1.3 Furthermore, the following rules will apply: Rules for Danish Championships, Rules for Nordic Championships, Class Rules for Albin Express Danish version. 1.4 The Rules are changed as follows: Rules 30.2 and 30.3 will be changed by a prescription of the Scandinavian Sailing Association. The base of the triangle in these rules includes the extensions of the starting line to the starting vessel and to the pin end vessel in the pin end. The preamble to Part 4 will be changed, to state that the obligation to wear personal buoyancy when flag Y is displayed not only applies while racing. Rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn is required. Rules 35 and A4 will be changed to state, that boats failing to finish within 20 minutes after the first boat sails the course and finishes will be scored Did Not Finish. Rule 60.1(a) will be changed to state, that a competitor can not protest another boat or competitor for breaches for some specific parts of the sailing instructions. Rules 61.3 and 62.2 will be changed so that the protest time is 90 minutes for competitors, protest committee as well as race committee. Rule 66 will be changed to shorten the time limit for reopening protest hearings on the last racing day. Rule A4 will be changed by stating, that a boat starting later than 4 minutes after her starting signal will be scored Did Not Start. The changes will appear in full in the sailing instructions. 2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 2.1 The regatta is open to the following classes: Albin Express. 2.2 Boats and participants shall meet the following requirements: Danish version of Class Rules for Albin Express (this means that guard rail stanchion from aft pulpit to stern pulpit is not required). Participants must comply with the eligibility prescriptions in the Class Rules and in the Rules for Danish Championships, including: all participants must be members of a sailing club under an ISAF-MNA all skippers and boat owners must be members of their national Albin Express class organization. 2.3 Eligible boats may enter by completing the registration form on www.horsens-sejlklub.dk, and pay the required fee to bank account 7789 8007370 (for Danish participants), SWIFT/BIC: DANBDK21MID, IBAN nr. DK0877890008007370 (for foreign participants) by the latest August 7 th 2011. 2.4 Late entries will be accepted, but in that case an additional fee of DKK 200,- will apply. 3 FEES 3.1 The entry fee is DKK 900,-. No warning signal will be made after 14.00 Prize giving ceremony as soon as possible after the races of the day The race committee can change the number of races each day if it is considered necessary, in order to capture the required number of races to constitute the championships. 5 MEASUREMENTS Each boat shall produce a valid class certificate or measurement certificate which shall be presented at registration. A list of the sails to be used during the races shall also be presented at registration see appendix. All participants on boats registered as 5 crew boats shall be weighted at registration (total weight of the 5 crew members must not exceed 340 kg). A boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with the class rules and sailing instructions. 6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will be available at registration. 7 VENUES 7.1 The regatta harbour will be Horsens Lystbådehavn. 7.2 Courses will be sailed on Horsens Fjord. 8 THE COURSES A windward-leeward course with gate will be sailed. The planned sailing time for the first boat will be 90 minutes. A shorter or longer sailing time will not be grounds for redress. 9 PENALTY SYSTEM Rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe, is required. 10 SCORING 10.1 10.2 The low point scoring system of RRS Appendix A will apply 3 races are required to constitute a series in the Nordic Championship. However 4 races are required to constitute a series in the Danish Championship. 10.3 (a) When fewer than 4 races (however 5 races in the Danish Championship) have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores. (b) When from 4 to 8 races (however 5 to 8 races in the Danish Championship) have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. 11 SAFETY Danish law requires every boat to be equipped with personal buoyancy for the number of persons on board at any time. 12 HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS Boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta from 08.00 hrs. on the first racing day until the last boat finishes the last race, except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee. 13 DIVING EQUIPMENT AND PLASTIC POOLS Underwater breathing apparatus and plastic pools or their equivalent shall not be used around the boats from 08.00 hrs. on the first racing day until the last boat finishes the last race. 14 RADIO COMMUNICATION A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available
to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. 15 PRIZES Prizes will be awarded on a ratio of one per each five boats. Nordic Champion will be the best boat. The Nordic championship medals will be awarded to the best three boats. Danish Champion will be the best Danish boat. The Danish championship medals will be awarded to the best three Danish boats. A Danish boat means that all crew members fulfils one of the following requirements: Danish citizen Others who have had legal residence in Denmark at least for 2 years up to the championship Members of Flensburg Yacht Club. Prize giving will take place soonest possible after the final race Sunday. 16 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. (See rule 4, Decision to Race.) The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 17 INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of DKK 2.000.000 per event or the equivalent. Boats must be clearly marked with stickers supplied by Horsens Yacht Club when registering. During the regatta all boats must be moored on the assigned pier - see map (Annex 1). Launching/lifting of boats: By launching and disembarking boats a red pillar crane at the service pier will be used - see Annex 1. Horsens Yacht Club will assist during launching and disembarking. Any lifting with the crane is at your sole risk. Please be ready for lifting in good time, and make sure that access and exit to/from the crane area is going as smoothly as possible. Trailers MUST stored at the designated areas listed in Annex 1 Catering: Breakfast, lunch packets and dinner Friday to Sunday can be ordered at registration. All catering is done from the tent in the port area. However after sailing biers are served on the "Express pier" - see map. City event: In the same period as the regatta takes place the European Medieval Festival is going on in the city centre of Horsens.
