1 XII SEMANA OLÍMPICA CANARIA DE VELA 4 th to 8 th December 2010 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain) The XII Semana Olímpica Canaria de Vela Trofeo El Corte Inglés, for Olympic Classes, Formula 18 and Laser Radial Men will be held in the Bay of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria from 4 th to 8 th December 2010, organized by the Real Náutico de Gran Canaria and sponsored by the Patronato de Turismo de Gran Canaria, El Corte Inglés and Toyota Canarias. 1. RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the racing rules of sailing. 1.2 The prescriptions of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federations will not apply. 1.3 Appendix P, Immediate Penalties for Breaking Rule 42, will apply. 2. ELIGIBILITY Competitors must comply with the ISAF eligibility requirements (Rule 19). 3. ADVERTISING 3.1 Competitors may display Category C advertising in accordance with Rule Competitors may be required to display event sponsor advertising in accordance with ISAF Rule 20.3 (d)(i) and 20.3(d)(ii). 4. CLASSES TO RACE AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 4.1 Olympic Classes, Laser Radial Men and Formula A minimum of 5 entered boats per Class is required for that Class to be entitled to race. 4.2 In each Class the regatta shall be valid only when there is a minimum of 5 started boats at least in the 50% of the races completed. 4.4 Only the entered skipper shall helm the boat. ENTRIES AND REGISTRATION 5.1 ENTRIES Entries will be made in accordance with the attached form before 15 th November The organizing committee at its discretion may accept late entries The organizing committee may require the exhibition of documents to certify the information contained in the entry form Entries shall be sent to: 5.2 REGISTRATION Real Náutico de Gran Canaria C/. Spain Phone: Fax: [email protected] To validate the entry, each skipper must personally register at the race office before 17:00 hours on December 4, Registration shall be made upon presentation of: A valid Measurement Certificate. (Spanish residents only) The 2010 RFEV sailing licence of each crewmember. (Non holders of a RFEV sailing licence only). A valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of ,78 Euros per event or its currency equivalent. 5.3 Coaches shall also register at the registration office before the registration deadline. 6. PROGRAMME 6.1 The event is programmed as follows: Date 4 th December th December 2010 Time to Race Office Opening. 3 7. COMPETITION FORMAT All classes will race in fleet races. 8. SCORING The Low Point Scoring System of RRS Appendix A will apply. 9. PRIZES Prizes will be awarded to the first three teams of each class. 10. CHARTER OF BOATS 11.1 Laser boats may be chartered for the Regatta and also for training. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 4 13. BOATS TRANSPORTATION 13.1 The organizing committee will provide container transportation from some harbours in Europe Only containers fully filled will be used. The interested competitors should organize themselves in order to maximise this possibility and a person in charge (a sailor, a coach or a federation representative) will coordinate the loading of the containers at each place of departure In addition, and for a reduced number of places, trailers carrying a minimum of 2 participating boats may be boarded in the ferry serving Las Palmas de Gran Canaria from Cádiz and Barcelona There will be some containers in the Port of Plymouth in England in September for those participants interested in using this service The Real Náutico de Gran Canaria will only pay the freight charge and the customs costs in Gran Canaria.
