You are invited to a reception with musical entertainment the evening before the Conference. Gallery Nygaten 9 April 19:30 GriegHallen Conference Venue Composer Edvard Grieg had plans for a concert hall in Bergen already in 1894. However, 80 years were to pass before Bergen had its cultural centre. The work started in 1968. The shape of Grieghallen resembles a grand piano with a bouquet of flowers on the lid. In recent years, Grieghallen has been transformed into Norway s leading integrated culture, conference and exhibition centre. It is located in the centre of Bergen, with all the recommended hotels within walking distance. Conference Banquet Grieghallen will host both the conference, in Peer Gynt hall, and the banquet dinner in the magnificent foyer. Welcome to Bergen! Once again we are pleased to invite you to the Bergen Shipping Executive Conference. Last year s event gathered over 200 shipping executives from all over the world. BSEC 2008 will take place on 10 April. This second Conference will continue the successful task of highlighting important topics and trends for the shipping industry, such as: Key drivers for the shipping/offshore business The climate challenge - Shipping should be part of the solution, not the problem Perspectives on being engaged in both the shipping - and in the offshore/rig industries - a pure play or a synergy option? The human side of the equation; Competence and capacity - Risk element and lost opportunities The Conference is designed for shipping executives from listed and private companies as well as for shipping investors, entrepreneurs, ship managers, bankers, insurance executives and other senior advisors to the shipping and offshore industries. Representatives from companies within all sectors of shipping will have an interest in attending, due to the fact that the subjects chosen apply across the global shipping industry. The invitation should be considered as personal. If you are not able to participate, another senior executive in your organisation may attend in your place. Bergen, with its extensive maritime tradition and position as a hub for industrial shipping, is providing a natural venue for a shipping conference of this kind. At the Conference and the social events attendees will have ample opportunities to socialise, to network and to discuss conference topics and business issues. The delegates are invited to enjoy an Icebreaker evening with entertainment ahead of the conference day, as well as a conference lunch and a banquet dinner in Grieghallen s magnificent foyer.
