6 Clean Access Checks and verifications: The clean access client will check your computer every time you log into the GC wireless network. The checks will be as follows and could change as the IT department deems necessary. Windows XP SP2 Update Each Windows XP client that logs into the Galveston College Network is required to have the Service Pack 2 patch on the unit. When the user logs in the first time Clean Access will check to see if the patch is present. If it does not find the patch, it will deny the computer access to the internet and force the user to download and install the patch before it will allow the PC on the Network. (10 minutes to download, to install) User interaction is required and this install will require a reboot. Update Windows XP Each Windows XP client that passes the Windows XP Service Pack 2 check will then be checked for windows critical updates. If the user does not have the necessary critical updates, Clean Access will direct the user to the Windows update site to install the critical updates. It is important to note that the user does not have to install the IE 7 update because many of the system Students access at this time does not support IE 7.
