Chair: Sponsorship Committee Position Overview: The Sponsorship Committee cultivates relationships with potential donors to obtain sponsorship in support of the MASS- AWIS mission, mentoring circle program and events. It maintains the sponsor database and ensures appropriate acknowledgement of donations upon receipt. Chair: Events Committee (East) Position Overview: The co- chair shares the responsibility of overseeing all events (~1 per month) planned by the committee members. Since there are two positions, each co- chair is typically responsible for every other event. At least one co- chair (ideally both) will be expected to attend each board meeting (quarterly) and providing updates on committee activities (both past and upcoming) to the board. Overseeing planning of event, including making sure volunteers have considered all aspects of event (e.g., location, refreshments, speaker, date, advertising, post- event survey) Setting up registration site Overseeing communication o Forwarding finalized flyer to the communications committee o Providing extra information to communications committee as it becomes available (e.g., event topics, save the dates before events are finalized) o Requesting extra advertising when necessary o Attendance at events when necessary Planning and running quarterly committee organization meetings during which events are roughly mapped out for the next several months Attending quarterly board meetings Providing written (pre- meeting) and oral (at the meeting) updates to the board quarterly Serving as an Events Committee member for at least 1 year (could have been for another AWIS chapter) Assisting in planning at least 3 events Serving as lead volunteer for at least 1 event
Time commitment: ~ 2-4 hr/month. The commitment is for one year, with encouragement to stay for two years Volunteers: There are ~20 volunteers on the committee typically. Is there a co- chair: yes. Chair: Mentoring Committee Position Overview: Work with other co- chair and Mentoring Committee to manage the Mentoring Circles program. Chair: Membership Committee Position Overview: Recruit and maintain national and MASS AWIS membership. Initiate and foster relationships both inside and outside our chapter to enhance network connectivity and diversity. Promote existing and generate new benefits for MASS AWIS members. Recruit new members and volunteers Maintain or grow MASS AWIS membership numbers Introduce new volunteers to membership benefits and activities of committee Facilitate volunteer initiatives and provide support at recruitment events Provide feedback to national AWIS on chapter initiatives and membership trends Attend quarterly board meeting Host quarterly meetings with committee including planning meeting, writing agenda, etc Organize yearly Propel Careers FILS career development award Partner with STEM orgs in surrounding community and provide mutual support Act as liason between partner orgs and individual MASS AWIS committees Administer all awards and member benefits both inside and those donated to MASS AWIS Send emails to members regarding upcoming opportunities or lapsed membership Ensure timely responses to all membership@massawis.org email messages Respond to board, volunteer and partner inquiries and messages as soon as possible Make sure all of the print and promotional materials are updated
