1 POSITIONS OPEN STARTING January 2015 SIETAR- USA National Board and Chair Volunteers For conversation about position descriptions and the nomination process, please contact a board member or info@sietarusa.org. Also encourage and nominate your colleagues to consider these positions. Board Positions Descriptions Preferred candidates should: 1. Be a SIETAR- USA member in good standing 2. Have previously volunteered in some capacity with a national or local group SIETAR 3. Attended a SIETAR conference SUMMARY Director of Board Leadership Development Responsible for supporting the Board of Directors in their respective portfolios, their understanding of the standing rules and by- laws for the organization, and identifying key talent to serve on the Board and other committee positions. Director of Sponsor Partnership Development Responsible to sustain and manage ongoing relationships with past, present and future sponsors for SIETAR- USA; research and implement innovative fundraising opportunities to support the organization operational needs. Director of Communications Responsible for showcasing SIETAR- USA in innovative ways, raising global awareness of its mission, and overseeing the marketing/pr, social media and web communications teams. Director of Membership, Outreach and Diversity Nomination application not required, One- year Term Open for nomination for three- year term starting January 2016 Responsible for establishing membership policies and benefits, overseeing membership recruitment, insuring renewal, creating innovative ways to engage membership, expanding the diversity of the SIETAR- USA membership, and reaching out to new audiences for inclusion in the Society. Marketing/Management Social Media IT Management Website Mentoring- - Filled Organizational Fundraising Sponsor, Exhibitor, and Advertising Lead Board Positions Descriptions Full Descriptions Director of Board Leadership Development (on Board of Directors) Description: Portfolio is responsible for supporting the Board of Directors in their respective portfolios, their understanding of the standing rules and by- laws for the organization, and identifying key talent to serve on the Board and other committee positions. Oversees Nominations process by identifying committee members, and serving as the chair of the Nominations committee (partial year) On- boards new Board Members (with President or Past President) by providing orientation to the operational aspects of the Board (i.e., expectations on attendance to meetings, use of BaseCamp, Roberta s Rules, Standing Rules, By- Laws, etc.) Provides assistance to identify committee members for other Board committees Understands and interprets Standing Rules & By- Laws (with Secretary) Serves in the Egalitarian role for meetings (with Secretary) Monitors and maintains current information on the SIETAR- USA website related to board- related leadership development about which members need to know Attends annual conference
3 The ideal candidate should have experience working with the SUSA Board of Directors and have a basic understanding of the SUSA by- laws. This person should enjoy working with people, have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be eager to outreach and recruit potential volunteers and talent for positions on the Board of Directors, other committees (conference and non- conference related positions). Director of Sponsor Partnership Development (on Board of Directors) Description: The Director of Sponsor Development sustains and manages ongoing relationships with past, present and future sponsors for SIETAR- USA; research and implement innovative fundraising opportunities to support the organization operational needs. Showcases field products and services through exhibitors & advertisers Cross- collaborate with partners to offer member benefits Identify fundraising and/or service exchange with industry partners Communicate progress updates, questions, and concerns to the Board Monitors and maintains current information on the SIETAR- USA website related to sponsors Appoints non- conference chairs and Oversees the following volunteers (non- board members): Sponsors, Exhibitors, and Advertisers (S.E.A.) Lead with two committee members Organizational Fundraising Lead, with one committee member Silent Auction (Conference) Coordinator, with one committee member S.E.A. Conference Co- Chair, with three local conference committee members Adviser (Treasurer) The ideal candidate has public relations, sales, customer service, communications experience and is a self- starter and enthusiastic for working in a virtual environment and across time zones. Director of Communications (on Board of Directors)
4 Description: The Communications Director is responsible to showcase SIETAR- USA in innovative ways and raise global awareness of its mission and oversee the marketing/pr, web communications, and the quarterly newsletter team. Identify, on- board, and manage team members Communicate team progress updates, questions, and concerns to the Board Co- create marketing and communications strategy for the annual conference, the organization in general, and other events as necessary Appoints non- conference chairs and Oversees: Public Relations/Marketing Coordinator (non- board members) Webmaster Coordinator (non- board members) Newsletter Editor (non- board members) The ideal candidate has marketing/communications/social media experience, is a self- starter, and is enthusiastic for working in a virtual environment and across time zones. Director of Membership, Outreach and Diversity Nomination application not required, One- year Term Open for nomination for three- year term starting January 2016 Description: The Membership, Outreach and Diversity Director is responsible for establishing membership policies and benefits, overseeing membership recruitment, expanding the diversity of the SIETAR- USA membership, and reaching out to new audiences for inclusion in the Society. Collaborate with board to constantly update member benefits Promote SIETAR- USA in new industries, institutions and corporations
