Project press release BRNO A JIŽNÍ MORAVA BEZ HRANIC brnobezhranic.cz Project held under the auspices of: Bc. ROMAN ONDERKA, MBA, Mayor of the Statutory city of Brno, JUDr. MICHAL HAŠEK, Governor of the Southern Moravia Region and This project BRNO A JIŽNÍ MORAVA BEZ HRANIC is a year by year series of more than 250 followed-up international, national and regional sport, preventive, charitable and integrating events connected with day activities for aforementioned target groups and other service in a field of drug prevention and youth crime prevention in cooperation with KŘ Policie JMK (Police of South Moravia region) that is directly linked to everyday project work in cooperation with schools and other institutions for aforementioned target groups. In 15 year existence this project has been organizing almost 1600 international, national and regional events and meetings. BUT in Brno carries out this integration project, thats meetings and events are connected to its daily activities of the project. Children and adults with a different handicap together with healthy students of primary and secondary schools and universities, children from orphanages, youth detention centers and other centers with lots of us adults preceptors, teachers and adults from city Brno, the South Moravia region, KŘ Policie JMK, Fire Brigade of the South Moravia region, city police Brno, partners, sport clubs etc., together not only compete but also prepare those events and help with them. Also students from schools, where we come with preventive programs together with PČR (Police of the Czech republic), come to help with events. Children take care all day of their challenged friends, they learn how to help a person on a wheelchair, how to fold and unfold a wheelchair, they learn how to differ types of handicap, learn to understand various behaviors of our challenged friends, they can help them with food, prepare sport and entertaining programs, but mainly like them, trust them, visit each other and mutually cheer for each other well, they are very close. In therapeutic workshops they create pieces from a various materials, get to know hipotherapy, together create gifts for others etc. The most important events of this project are:
1. Athletic meeting of Brno and the South Moravia region-spastic HANDICAP 2014 Organizer: SK Kociánka Brno and BUT Brno Date: May 10, 2014 Athletic area of BUT Brno Opening ceremony: 11:30 Closing ceremony: around 17:00 Prestigious international event for almost 100 challenged athletes from the Czech republic. We count on the participation of Czech athletes not only in a senior category but also in junior category who are interested in entering this event. This traditional important international event takes place in Brno at the newly reconstructed area of BUT Brno Pod Palackého vrchem with the highest certificate IAAF and Mondo surface. 2. Two big meetings for children with various disablement, children from orphanages, youth detention centers and other centers and healthy children. These meetings ensue from the daily activities of the project. a. Roosevelta for disabled people, Brno, SK Kociánkou Brno, Entity agency, Orphanage Tišnov, SPŠEIT Purkyňova Brno, ZŠ Arménská Brno, ZŠ Jihomoravské náměstí Brno, SŠ Gemini for disabled people, ZŠ Novolíšeňská Brno, ZŠ Modřice etc. BRNO A JIŽNÍ MORAVA BEZ HRANIC is an amazing athletic, entertaining and social event: Children and adults, that come together throughout the whole year come together to make mixed teams that take care of their challenged friends and compete as one at lots of different stops, placed in the area of BUT. Athletic, charitable and integration event BRNO A JIŽNÍ MORAVA BEZ HRANIC is bringing together more than 300 children and adults with various kind of disability with healthy kids from primary, secondary and high schools, children from orphanages other centers and with us adults tutors, teachers and people from statutory city Brno, the South Moravia region, Police ČR, partners, athletic clubs etc This event comes out of everyday work of project BRNO A JIŽNÍ MORAVA BEZ HRANIC and is a year by year series of more than 200 followed-up events connected
to everyday activities of this project. Together we work and help others with specific integration meetings and events, where these aforementioned groups directly help with preparation of these events. b. MEETING WITHOUT BORDERS-SWIMMING SHOW Date: October 21, 2014 Aqua park Kohoutovice, Brno Opening ceremony: 9:15 Closing ceremony: 13:00-13:30 Organizer: Project BRNO A JIŽNÍ MORAVA BEZ HRANIC represented by BUT Brno, DD Dagmar Children from orphanages together with children and adults with various kind of disability that meet throughout the year at lots of different events and meetings of project BRNO A JIŽNÍ MORAVA BEZ HRANIC create together with us 15 different teams and compete the whole day in swimming single and relay races activities, but mainly in 3 athletic and smart games in or out the pool. This event will take place during the 15 th annual project BRNO A JIŽNÍ MORAVA BEZ HRANIC organized by BUT Brno. It is a series of more than 250 meetings and events in year 2013 and an everyday work with children, which is directly connected to these meetings. In 15 year existence this project has been organizing almost 1250 international, national and regional events and meetings. Also, it is very important that the children and adults mentioned before take part in the preparation process. 3. Other meetings which follow the biggest meetings of this project are sport events mostly organized for children from elementary and secondary schools in Brno. They mainly take place at the Athletic area of BUT Brno Pod Palackého vrchem. a. POHÁR ROZHLASU ZÁKLADNÍCH ŠKOL MĚSTA BRNA Date: May 14, 2013 Athletic area of BUT Brno Pod Palackeho vrchem, Brno Opening ceremony: 9:00 Organizer: BUT Brno and AŠSK 400 pupils at the age of 12-16 from more than twenty elementary schools in Brno compete in offered athletic disciplines including a final relay. They battle to become the uncrowned king of Brno but at the same time they guard colours of their schools in the competition of teams. Many children and adults with some handicap take place at this meeting too.
b. STŘEDOŠKOLSKÝ ATLETICKÝ POHÁR (HIGHSCHOOL ATHLETIC CUP FINALS) Date and time: September 17, 2014 Opening ceremony: 9:00 Athletic area of BUT Pod Palackého vrchem, Brno Organizer: BUT Brno and AŠSK 33 nd year of this traditional athletic event in Brno with more than 500 children and youth from 15-20 from high schools from Brno participating. Also children and adults with various handicap participate. Every contestant compete not only in his/her single category but also as a group for his/her school. 4. The rest 200 events and meetings are the most important for the project, where together cooperate and help each other: a. Children and adults with various handicap and healthy students from the whole South Moravia region b. Children and adults with various handicap and children from orphanages c. Children and adults with various handicap from different detention centers and other centers This whole project is not just about these events but mainly about the everyday simple work with Children from the street, with children, that were abused, bullied, or had or are involved in a violent crime and children and adults with a various handicap. The idea is that the children get something to do, they get the opportunity to cooperate, help and learn from each other and mainly they get the feeling of having someone to help them. Overall it is a big combination of not only athletic and integration events but also the most simple but also most important everyday precise work with these children. One man must be with them to help them move on with their lives, but also to learn from them. 5. And what is new in the project? A part of the BRNO A JIŽNÍ MORAVA BEZ HRANIC project organized by BUT Brno is a kids rock band from Brno called FREEDOM. The band was established at the end of 2013 by a leader, manager and guitarist Michael Svoboda (director of the project). Some of the band members are disabled children from Centrum Kociánka Brno, children from orphanages or youth detention centers. Permanent adult members of the band FREEDOM are: preceptor Pavla from Centrum Kociánka Brno, chief coach of juniors in hockey team HC Kometa Brno Pavel Pazourek and mother Gabča. The band has played many concerts, for example at an event of the 60 th anniversary of HC Kometa Brno or at the 20 th social event or the city Brno.
