Welcome to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Guided Tour Getting Started 1. On the top of the Tab, press and hold the Power button for two seconds. Select your language from the drop-down menu and tap Start. 2. You are now ready to set up your WiFi network to connect to the Internet. Tap your network name to select network. Type in your password and tap Connect when complete. 3. Once the Tab has connected to the WiFi network, tap Next. Tap Next to use Google's Location Services via WiFi. This provides more accurate local results versus GPS. 4. Tap the Date and Time drop-down menu to set up your local time zone. Tap the Month/Day/ Year drop-down menus and select today's date. Tap the Hour/Minute/AM or PM drop-down menus and select the current time. You can use the arrows to change the information or swipe up and down. Tap Next to continue. 5. You will now sign in with your Google account. Android uses this account to set up your apps and other functions. If you don't have a Google account we can set one up.! If you have a Google Account: i. Tap Next. Type in the email address for your Google account. You can either tap the Next field for Password, or on the keyboard tap Next. In the Password field, type in your password, then tap Sign In. ii. On the Backup and Restore page, tap Done. Your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is now set up and ready to be used.! If you do not have a Google Account: i. Tap Next. To set up a Google account, tap Create Account. ii.type in your new desired email address, and your first and last name. Then tap Next. Google will check to see if the email address you chose is available. Page 1 of 6
iii. Choose a password. Go to the next field and re-enter your password, then tap Next to continue. iv. Google will ask you for a security question they will use if you forget your password. Select a question and answer that you will always remember. Type in a recovery email address for Google to send you a password reminder, then tap Next. v. Agree to the Google Terms of Service by tapping I Agree > Next. To authenticate, type in the word displayed in the white box then tap Next. Your account has been created. Tap Done to use your Tab. Your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is now set up and ready to be used. Connect to WiFi 1. From the home screen, tap the bottom right-hand corner where the WiFi symbol is located. 2. Tap Settings. Tap WiFi Settings. Tap the name of the network you would like to join. 3. Type in the password and press OK. Tap the Home icon in the bottom left corner to take you back to your home screen. Set Up Email 1. From the home screen, swipe across the screen. Tap the Mail icon to begin. 2. Type in your email address, then type in your password. Then tap Next in the top right corner of the screen. 3. Select the frequency that your Tab will check for mail, and tap the box if you would like this to be your default email address. Then tap Next. 4. You can give this email account an optional name, if you have multiple e-mail addresses. You can also change your display name that displays on outgoing messages. Tap Done in the top right of the screen to finish setting up your email account. Tap the Home icon to return to the home screen.! Page 2 of 6
Browse the Internet 1. From the home screen, tap the Browser icon. Use the bar at the top of the screen to type in a web address or to perform a Google search. In that search bar, type in "Best Buy". It will start to auto fill-in. Tap www.bestbuy.com as it appears. 2. You are now on the Best Buy mobile site. To view the full web version, tap Full Site at the bottom of the screen. To open another tab in the browser, tap the + icon at the top of the screen. You now have a list of Most Visited Websites, and a second tab to open up a new website in. 3. To bookmark a site, tap the Bookmarks icon on the right side of the screen. Then tap the Add Bookmark icon at the top of the screen. 4. Let's re-name this label: Best Buy. Tap and hold in the Label field. Tap Select All from the top of the screen, then tap Cut. Now type in "Best Buy" in the Label field. Tap OK to store in your bookmarks. In the bottom left corner, tap Back to continue browsing. Transfer Media 1. Plug in the included dock connector cable into the bottom of your Tab and the USB cable into your PC. 2. Your PC will automatically download the drivers needed for the Galaxy Tab. Once that is complete, a Windows Explorer window will pop up. Expand the window so that it is full screen. Twirl the tab down on the icon for the Galaxy Tab to see a list of folders. 3. Now select the music you want from your Music folder on your PC, and drag it into the Galaxy Tab Music folder. Next we will do the same with photos. Select the photos you want from your Pictures folder on your PC, and drag them into the Pictures folder on your Galaxy Tab. Finally, select the videos you want from your Videos folder on your PC, and drag them into the Movies folder on your Galaxy Tab. 4. Once the Galaxy Tab has completed transferring all of your music, photos and videos, unplug the USB cable from the Galaxy Tab and from your PC. Page 3 of 6
View Photos 1. To view photos transferred from your PC to your tablet, tap Apps, then tap Gallery. Tap the camera roll to view all of your photos. To select a photo, simply tap it. To view your photos in a slideshow, tap the Play button in the top right corner. 2. Tap the Share icon in the top right corner to post your pictures to your Social Hub, or share via Picasa, Bluetooth, and Gmail. 3. You can also shoot amazing pictures and videos right on your Tab. From the home screen, tap Camera. You can select either the front or rear camera. Additional settings are on the left side of the screen to control the Flash, Shooting Mode, Timer, Exposure and more. 4. All of your pictures in your photo roll are on the right side of the screen. Tap a picture in the bottom right corner to view all of your photos from your photo roll. Watch Videos 1. From the home screen, tap Apps, and swipe over one screen to Videos. Tap Videos. Tap Shop in the top right corner of your screen - you are now in the Android Marketplace to rent videos. 2. You can rent videos to watch right on your Tab. Browse by categories on the right side of the screen, or use the search bar at the top to find the title of your choice. Scroll down to see a list of Staff Picks, Top Rentals and New Releases. Tap the title for the movie you would like to rent. For your first rental, you will need to fill out your credit card info using Google Checkout. Once you have selected and downloaded your movie, you will have up to 30 days to watch it. Once you play the title, it is available to you for 24 hrs to watch on your Tab. 3. Android makes it easy to watch movies using apps such as Netflix and videos you have from your PC. Launch the Netflix app, and sign in with your credentials to view Netflix movies and TV Shows. 4. Videos that you transferred from your PC are available under Apps > Video. Page 4 of 6
Listen to Music 1. Tap Music Hub from the Home Screen. Music Hub is where you can download all of your favorite albums or tracks to listen to on your Tab. You can view and download Top Albums, Top Tracks, Genres, or use the search bar at the top to find your favorite music to download. Add albums or songs by tapping the Shopping Basket icon next to the title. 2. After you have made your selections, tap the My Page link at the top of the screen. Tap Buy to purchase and download your music selections. You will be prompted to sign in to the 7Digital music service. If you don't have a 7Digital account, tap Create Account. 3. Once you have signed in with your 7Digital account, tap Buy, then tap OK. The first time you buy music with 7DIgital you will need to provide your credit card information. It will be saved for future purchases. Tap OK to make your purchase. Tap OK to download your purchased music. You will see the download progress in the Purchase List on My Page. If you have music that needs to be downloaded, tap the Down arrow button for that song. 4. To listen to music you have downloaded from Music Hub, or from music transferred from your PC, use the Music app from your apps. Tap Apps, then tap Music. All of your transferred and downloaded music can be found and played from here. Download Apps 1. To download apps, we will use the Android Marketplace. From the home screen, tap Market. Tap Accept to accept the Terms and Conditions. 2. You are now in the Android Marketplace. Tap Search Market, next to the magnifying glass. The keyboard will appear. Type Netflix and tap the magnifying glass on the keyboard to perform a search. 3. Tap the Netflix app from Netflix, Inc. Tap Install. Tap OK to agree to download and allow access. This is a free app. The app will now install onto your Tab. 4. Tap the Home icon in the bottom left corner of your Tablet. A Netflix app shortcut has been created on your home screen. Tap the Netflix app to launch it. Enter your email address and password for your Netflix account to sign in. 5. Now, let's set up your Social Hub for Facebook. Tap the Home icon to get to the home screen. Slide one finger from the right to the left side of the screen to get to the next screen. Tap Social Hub, then tap Set Up Now. Page 5 of 6
6. Tap Facebook. Select your country from the drop-down menu. Check the box to accept the terms. Then tap Agree. Tap Next to sync Facebook with your Social Hub. 7. Type in your email address and password. Then tap Log In. Tap Done in the top right corner of your screen to complete syncing your Facebook account. You are now back on the home screen with your Facebook news feed in your Social Hub. To unlock all of Facebook's features - download the Facebook app from the Android Market. 8. To view all of your apps, from the home screen, tap Apps in the top right corner of your Tab. Tap and hold the Amazon Kindle app until the Tab beeps. You can now drag that app (or any other) to your home screen to access it quickly with a shortcut. 9. Amazon Kindle is just one of the many apps that's an ereader. Kobo and Nook also have ereader apps available from the Android Market. All of these free apps let you sign in to your existing accounts to browse, download and read all of your favorite titles.
