Technical assistance is allowed, which is one of the main differences with the mountain bike disciplines. The Union Cycliste Internationale is the international cycling federation recognized by the International Olympic Committee. The UCI was founded in 1900 and promotes the development of cycling at all levels. It is one of the world s main sports federations with 185 affiliated national federations and more than 600,000 licensed cyclists.
