2 media and marketing strategy: Increase the RS:X Class major events value across all channels - TV, print, venue, online Increase its global media exposure of the sport to attract viewers and sponsors Market the RS:X Class major events to existing and new stakeholders in the knowledge it can deliver significant and continuously growing media return to sponsors, athletes, event partners and host venues Initiate a proactive sponsor approach to increase cash revenue securing prize money, world class venues and hospitality Allocate the right budget to the right media knowing that TV generate 49% of the global exposure value, while the print media represents 36%, the host venue 9% and the online 7% (source Havas Sponsorship Insights, 2012 Extreme Sailing Series global media exposure analysis) create a corporate event identity with Gold standards for Worlds and Europeans, Silver standards for Continentals and Bronze standards for Nationals championships

Established in 2009, Icarus designed and developed its own innovative technologies in order to provide media coverage services to sailing projects all over the world, with an exciting output and cost effective way. As a result, Icarus won the "Rising Star Award" from the Enterprise Europe Network in Being the media partner for various Olympic classes (RS:X, Kite, Star, 470, 49er etc.), as well as of various yachting events, Icarus has developed quickly to a global leader in sailing media production, post-production and distribution. Nowadays, Icarus is running around 30 projects on yearly basis in every corner of the world. At the same time, Icarus is among the very few sailing content providers to Sports TV Channels and International networks worldwide. 20 Suggestions for the RS:X Class executive committee The perfect package would combine TV, PR, Photographers and live tracking services. It must be our goal for future events aside world class venues selection, hospitalities and prize money for our athletes. For this to happen, we need to generate cash with sponsors and select the right tools such TV, photographer, PR and tracking services. We also have to ensure that our media services will feature all RS:X events and can t let organizers to select their own services. Worlds (including youth) and European championships shall be covered by APP Sunset vine option B with track track and continental championships by Icarus option B till the Games. Media services providers will charge the Class and the Class will charge event organizers for such services adding 10% margin allowing the Class to support events with financial difficulties in the future. Once the partner will be selected a further final negotiation shall be conducted prior the agreement to be signed for the 2014 till the Games period. A discussion needs to be conducted with IWA to propose a media cost share for continentals events with multiple classes (ie Bic Techno, RS:X, RS:One). In that case with Icarus only.
