TFA Screening Procedure Dear captains, Welcome to the TFA screening procedure. Concerning the sophistication of the whole process of screening, some tips and notes are for your reference and convenience. We would be happy if it offers help. The total screening process includes four parts, which are CAAC Medical Check, Theory Test, Simulator Check ATP written test The most important part is the Simulator Check. Procedure that gets you to Beijing 1. Complete the Application form 2. Send the following documents to (dwmatthews@tf-aviation.com) 3. Photo Page of Passport 4. Copy of Medical, (first class medical) 5. Copy of ATP Pilots License 6. Copy Last 3 pages of logbook 7. Copy of Last PC Your Document Package will determine whether or not you meet the required criteria set down by the airlines. TFA collects your document package, checks it for required criteria, and then sends this package to the airline. The airline committee will go over each document and determine whether or not this applicant meets the required criteria, if everything is in order, The airline authorizes a Letter of Invitation be sent to the applicant to visit PEK. Any Pilot who receives this Invitation Letter, (which they will need for their Visa), has been selected as a future employee of the airline. On receiving your Invitation Letter, take or send your Passport to the Chinese Embassy to facilitate your Chinese Visa. Please refer to the following web page: http://www.chinavisa.com.hk/index.htm A representative will organize your trip to PEK. He will send information concerning: Your Interview Date, Your Flight Number and Your Hotel, Your Itinerary, Your pick up time at the hotel by the airline transportation Your return Flight Itinerary. NOTE: All expenses will be paid by the airline. 3
Screening Guide Medical Check: Location: Beijing Require: Casual attire/no breakfast Time: Will advise on arrival in PEK Includes: Blood test Urinalysis Resting ECG Type B Ultrasonic Chest X-ray Exercise Stress Test (treadmill) EEG Blood Pressure Pure Tone Audio metry Vision Tips: Sleep Well Stop smoking for some days Take medicine 15days in advance if you have high blood pressure Be shaved (if necessary) for the check Bring your eyeglasses (prescription) Theory Test: Location: The airline will advise on arrival Require: Business attire This is an aircraft system test, which is composed of 50 multiple choice questions covering the more major aircraft systems. Sim Check Location: CA will advise on arrival in PEK Require: Business attire Arrive Time: 30 minutes before the check The SIM check will consist of 2 hrs. Training +30min. pre-briefing and 1 hr. operation +30 min. post-briefing, totally 4 hrs. Normally the SIM check will not be the regular operation, in most cases is the emergency situation, CA will provide SIM materials as well as company normal operation procedures for you to study CA will arrange the F.O. for the SIM. In order to better cooperate during the SIM check, please communicate & study with the F.O. in advance, if possible CAAC ATP Written Test Location: CA will advise on arriving in PEK Time: 2.5 hours Require: 30 minutes before the test Need to bring 2 passport photos with dark blue background Your own passport and pen. Tips and requirements: The test will be done on computer, do not exit program until all the questions are answered. You are not allowed to bring a calculator. Instead, you can use the calculator software in computer. If there are some questions you are not sure of, please choose one answer, and then click the MARK button. After you finish all questions, you can go back to all the questions marked, think it over again and choose the answer one more time. Your test result is immediately provided on your screen after completion. You are required to get at least 70 grades to pass the test, 28 days to retake test. 5
Registration for work in China License Confirmation: Next, you will take the CAAC check and register for your work Visa In order to apply for your work Visa, CA needs to get the License Confirmation Letter from the Civil Aviation Administration Office in your Country. CAAC Simulator Check: The CAAC Simulator check is the last step of the screening process. It will take 2 hrs. Materials required for this Check: 1. 24 Passport photos 2. In order to apply for a Chinese ATPL, you should fill in two forms: (P1 and P2) One is an Application for Civil Aircraft Pilot License and or rating the other is a Record of Pilot time. TFA has provided a copy of these two documents to eliminate any confusion during the process. Documents for Registration to Work in China No Criminal Certificate: The No Criminal Certificate must be issued by the government in your country of nationality It must be translated into Chinese It must be notarized by Chinese Embassy in your country This document is valid for 6 months from the issued date No Accident/Incident Record No Accident/Incident Record shall be issued by your previous company Must cover 3 years without time gap, if you worked for 2 or more companies during last 3 years, we need all companies No Accident Records Should be signed by the chief pilot or the manager of flight management in your previous company. The sentence Also, Captain has no history of violation of civil aviation security laws and regulations since (Month Year) should be exactly the same added into the record. 6
