Mobile Device Management: Deployment MOBILE DEVICE MANAGEMENT: DEPLOYMENT... 1 Overview... 1 Give Access to Enroll Mobile Devices... 1 Via Web Link on the Web Control Center... 1 Via Android Market... 2 Via Email/Text Message... 2 Via QR Code... 3 Device Sign Up Process for End-Users... 5 ios Devices... 5 Android Users... 5 Document Revision History... 7 Overview There are various methods to sign up mobile devices to be managed. In the initial configuration (Mobile System > System Configuration), you can select the Show Manage My Mobile Device link on Home Page checkbox to display a link on the Web Portal. This allows you to give your clients the ability to sign up their own devices. Otherwise, several other methods are available, as follows: Running Market (Google Play) from your Android device and searching for the app by name (rmm mobile agent). Following a link in an email. Must have email configured on the LabTech server to use this option. Following a link in a text message. Must have the CDyne SMS Alerting plugin to use this option. Using a QR code provided by the MSP. This is most useful if the manufacturer provides the device with a barcode app pre-installed; otherwise this requires installing a barcode app. Give Access to Enroll Mobile Devices Via Web Link on the Web Control Center If you selected the Show Manage My Mobile Device link on Home Page checkbox during the initial configuration (Mobile System > System Configuration), you will see an ios Mobile Management and Android Mobile Management link on the Web Control Center. 37.51.155.MDMDeployment 1

Mobile Device Management: Deployment Figure 1: Web Control Center Mobile Management Links 1. For ios devices, click on the ios Mobile Management link. Otherwise, for Android devices, click on the Android Mobile Management link. 2. Refer to the Device Sign Up Process for End-Users for instructions for endusers to follow to complete the sign-up process. Via Android Market For Android users only, go to the Market application on your device and search for rmm mobile management (provided by LabTech Software, LLC). Tap the Install button. Once installed, refer to the Device Sign Up Process for End-Users for instructions for end-users to follow to complete the sign-up process. Via Email/Text Message The email/text message sign-up option will send a link to all of the contacts associated with the client or location so it is important that the contact information is correct in LabTech (valid email address, valid cell phone number if text messages are being used, contacts assigned to locations). When the device is signed up, the device will automatically be associated with the contact. To send a sign up link via email or text, to a client or location: 1. From the Mobile Device Manager, click on the Clients tab. Figure 2: Mobile Device Manager 2. Right-click on the Client or Location and select Send MDM Signup Message. 37.51.155.MDMDeployment 2

Figure 3: MDM Signup Message 3. The default MDM signup message is configured to send an email and a text message to each contact. If you click Send, an email and a text message will be sent unless you deselect one of the options. Select the appropriate delivery method and click Send. NOTE: The text messaging only works if you are using the CDyne SMS Alerting plugin. Refer to the SMS Text Messages documentation for additional information on that plugin. 4. Refer to the Device Sign Up Process for End-Users for instructions for endusers to follow to complete the sign-up process. Via QR Code Using the QR codes is the easiest and quickest method for end-users to sign up their devices for mobile management, provided the device has a barcode app preinstalled; otherwise this requires installing a barcode app. To get the QR code: 1. Log in to the Client Portal portion of the Web Control Center. You must have permissions assigned to access the Client Portal. Refer to the Client Portal documentation for assistance, if necessary. 37.51.155.MDMDeployment 3

Mobile Device Management: Deployment Figure 4: Web Control Center Client Portal 2. In the Install Packages section, select Android QR or ios QR from the Type drop-down. 3. Select the location from the For Location drop-down and click Generate. The QR code will be generated on screen. Figure 5: Sample QR Code 37.51.155.MDMDeployment 4

4. Copy the URL and send the link to your clients to scan the QR code to sign up their device for management. You can also right-click the QR code and save it, then add it to an email to your clients. Device Sign Up Process for End-Users The following steps for ios and Android users are only necessary if you did not register your device using the QR code. ios Devices 1. For ios devices, click on the ios Signup link from the device you are trying to sign up. Figure 6: Clicking the ios Signup Link 2. Enter the Sign in Code (PIN) and the Location ID and the device will automatically be added to that location. For example, if your Sign in Code is 123 and the Location ID for Fiji is 12, the user should enter 12312 in the PIN field and click Enter PIN. If the user does not enter in the Location ID, the device will be added to the first client and first location in the table. 3. That s it! This device is ready to be managed. The profile that has been created on the ios device can be viewed by going to General > Installed Profiles on the device. 4. The above steps are for deploying Apple s MDM through LabTech. For data plan management and location tracking, you will need to go to the App Store and download the LabTech RMM Mobile Agent for ios. Android Users 1. For Android users, click on the Android Signup Link. 37.51.155.MDMDeployment 5

Mobile Device Management: Deployment Figure 7: Clicking the Android Signup Link 2. You will be taken directly to the RMM Mobile Agent Download screen. Click Install. 3. You will then be prompted to log in to your Google account. Enter your Google account information that is associated with the device and complete the verification process (if prompted) and click Continue. Figure 8: RMM Mobile Agent Installation 4. Click Install. Once Install has been selected, the RMM Mobile Agent will be downloaded to the phone. 37.51.155.MDMDeployment 6

5. Once the app has been installed, tap the app on the device to register. If you have been given the the QR code, click the Scan QR code and scan the code. Scanning the code will automatically populate the PIN and Server URL information. Otherwise, enter the Sign in Code (PIN) plus the Location ID in the PIN field (e.g., Sign in Code is 123 and the Location ID for Fiji is 12, then enter 12312 in the PIN field). If the Location ID is not entered, the device will be added to the first client and first location in the table. Figure 9: Mobile RMM Agent 6. Enter the Server URL (e.g., my.fqdn.com). 7. Select Use SSL to use SSL. 8. Click Register. 9. That s it! This device is ready to be managed.
