Business Intelligence Upgrade Overview GE Transportation is upgrading its Business Intelligence platform. This upgrade requires an extended outage, currently scheduled to occur on Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 7 AM to 9 PM. Note that the GE Transportation Business Intelligence application will be unavailable during this outage. New Functionality In this release, GE Transportation s Business Intelligence application will provide these new functions. Supported Java GE Transportation recommends all users to upgrade to the Java 7 runtime. This release of the GE Transportation Business Intelligence application has been verified as compatible with the Oracle Java 7 update 67 Java Runtime Environment (JRE). While other Java 7 updates may be compatible with this release, it is recommended that the Oracle Java 7 update 67 version of the JRE be utilized with the Business Intelligence application. Refer to the BI Troubleshooting Guide for information on how to obtain and install the Oracle Java 7 update 67 JRE. Supported Browsers The GE Transportation s Business Intelligence will support multiple browsers and the Java 7 runtime. See the table below for all of the operating systems and browsers supported. The Firefox and Safari (Mac OS) browsers are now supported in this release but both require Java 7. The Chrome browser has limited capability with the GE Transportation Business Intelligence application and is not a fully supported browser. Please note that the Internet Explorer Compatibility View settings below are required for optimal Dashboard viewing. Refer to the BI Troubleshooting Guide for more detailed instructions. (1) Dashboards are rendered optimally when Compatibility View display mode is enabled. Graphical glitches may appear in Dashboards if Compatibility View display mode is not enabled. (2) Compatibility View display mode is required to render some pages accurately. (3) Please note that 64-bit versions of Firefox and IE7-9 are not supported. In the case of IE 10-11, Enhanced Protected Mode (64-bit content processes) is not supported. Supported Operating Systems The GE Transportation s Business Intelligence application will support the following operating systems. Windows Vista SP2 (1) Windows 7 (1) Windows 7 SP1 (1) Windows 8, 8.1 (2) (1) 32-bit and 64-bit O/S editions supported (2) Windows 8 is supported with the mouse and keyboard interface. Touch screen interactions with Windows 8 have not been tested and are not officially supported Page 3
Dashboard and Analytic Support for SVG and Flash The GE Transportation Business Intelligence application now supports Flash. The application will continue to support SVG but SVG is no longer required. To enable Flash: 1. Click the Preferences option in the top-right of the menu bar. 2. Expand the Dashboard and Analytics section at the bottom of the screen. 3. Select the Rich Client Option: Use Macromedia Flash when available option. 4. Select the OK button. Please refer to the BI Troubleshooting Guide for more detailed instructions. Be aware of these requirements related to SVG and Flash support. SVG is not supported by Dashboard and Analytics for Firefox and Safari SVG version 3.0.3 and above supported for Internet Explorer Flash version 11 and above are supported in Internet Explorer and Firefox Export Reports to CSV file Users can now export the following two types of data in Web Intelligence documents to a CSV file: report data (new feature with this release) query data (existing feature) The output file for report data is a.zip file that contains one.csv file for each of the report tabs in the Web Intelligence document. Each report is exported to a.csv file named <report_name>.csv. The.ZIP output file is named <document_name>.zip. Page 4
Export Reports to Text File Users can now export a Web Intelligence report as a text file. Export Reports to Excel 2007 File Users can now export a Web Intelligence report as an Excel 2007 file. This feature enables users to save Web Intelligence data to the.xlxs output format allowing for the export of more data per worksheet than the previous Excel 2003 (.XLS) constraint: Excel 2003 supports 65,536 lines and 256 columns per worksheet Excel 2007 supports 1,048,576 lines and 16,384 columns per worksheet Reference The following documentation can be found within the GE Transportation s Business Intelligence application.
