The OMNITRACKER Windws client can be run n Citrix (XenApp) servers. At least Citrix Presentatin Server 4.5 with FP1 is required. Make sure t cnfigure the Citrix server fr ptimum WPF perfrmance accrding t Citrix s recmmendatins. Usually, this means that clients and server must have the same versin number (unless specified therwise in the OMNITRACKER Release Ntes). This als applies t the OMNITRACKER Develpment Envirnment. If yu installed 64-bit OMNITRACKER server it is als pssible t install and use 32-bit OMNI- TRACKER clients n ther cmputers which shall cnnect t instances f the OMNITRACKER server. All ther cmpnents (Email Gateway, Web Gateway, and s n) must have the same versin number as the OMNI- TRACKER server. OMNITRACKER Email Gateway Windws Server 2008 with SP2, Windws Server 2008 R2 with SP1, Windws Server 2012, r Windws Server 2012 R2 are supprted. ( 32-bit and 64-bit versins f the Email Gateway are available. The 32-bit Email Gateway is supprted n 64-bit perating systems.) Mail server: An email server prviding Internet email prtcls (SMTP, IMAP4 and/r POP3) r MAPI must be available. When using the MAPI prtcl, certain advanced email functinalities f OMNI- TRACKER cannt be used. When using MAPI Outlk 2013 must be installed n the OMNITRACKER server cmputer. Only 32-bit versins f Outlk are sup-prted using the 32-bit versin f OMNI-TRACKER. Using the 64- bit versin f OMNITRACKER nly 64-bit versins f Outlk are supprted. ODBC Data Imprt Fr ODBC data imprt, thse data bases are supprted that can be used as back-end database fr the OMNITRACKER server. (See page 4.) Exceptin: Micrsft Jet is nt supprted via ODBC; there is a dedicated Micrsft Jet (MDB) imprt instead. In additin, MySQL 5.6.11 is supprted as an imprt surce. When using a 64-bit OMNITRACKER server large server-side exprt and reprting tasks shuld be avided, because the cmmunicatin between the 64-bit server and the 32-bit Micrsft Jet prcesses is very slw. OMNITRACKER Telephny Integratin The OMNITRACKER Windws client can be integrated with TAPI 2.x cmpliant telephny systems. A TAPI 2.x cmpliant driver must be installed n each machine n which the OMNITRACKER Windws client is running. The scanner can scan all Windws PCs that fulfill the fllwing requirements: Windws Management Instrumentatin (WMI) is installed and active. (WMI is pre-installed n Windws Server 2003 and higher.) The Remte Registry Service is active. If a firewall is present, it must allw WMI and Remte Registry cmmunicatin. Mre than ne inventry scanner can be installed in the netwrk. The scanner can run n a different machine than the OMNITRACKER server. The behaviur is almst the same as the 32-bit versins. Fllwing sme specifics are listed. Fr the mst use cases we recmmend t use the 32-bit versins f the OMNITRACKER client even if the 64-bit server is used t avid prblems r perfrmance lss caused by the pssible use f external cmpnents which are nt ptimised fr 64-bit. When using Terminal Server we recmmend t use the 64 bit versin f the OMNITRACKER client. When using a 64 bit OMNITRACKER server we advise against the use f MS Jet Engine (mdb) as database type due t perfrmance lsses resulting frm the cmmunicatin 64-bit server and the 32-bit Micrsft Jet. If CrystalReprts shuld be used and a 64-bit OMNITRACKER Server is chsen, the administratr must manually set the crrect user accunt fr the "OT-Crystal Rep." COM+ service. It has t be identical t the user accunt used fr the OMNITRACKER service. The reprt type "HTML with preview" is unavailable while using a 64-bit versin f the Web Gateway. Running the OMNITRACKER end-user-client in 64-bit mde the reprt viewer is pened in an external prgram instead f a dcument pane like it is the case in 32-bit mde. When using MAPI fr the Email Gateway there are dependencies based n the bitness. Only 32- bit versins f Outlk are supprted using the 32-bit versin f OMNITRACKER. Using the 64- bit versin f OMNITRACKER nly 64-bit versins f Outlk are supprted. Please be infrmed that n frms in a 64-bit OMNITRACKER client nly 64-bit ActiveX cntrls may be used In the Web Gateway cnfiguratin there is a new prperty "64-bit supprt". If 64-bit Autmatin Interface is installed n the Web server and the IIS applicatin pl f the Web Gateway is running in 64-bit mde this prperty must be checked. It must be unchecked if the Web Gateway is running in 32-bit mde. Please nte: Upgrading frm 32-bit t 64-bit versins and vice versa is nt supprted. Yu have t uninstall the existing OMNITRACKER versin befrehand. Please be infrmed that the "Dashbard" client part nly exists fr the 32-bit versin. If yu want t use it please use the 32-bit versin. Minimum Hardware Requirements This sectin describes the minimum requirements t run OMNITRACKER at a reasnable speed and gives recmmendatins f hw t increase system perfrmance. Please nte that OMNITRACKER can run n slwer systems but a drp belw the reasnable perfrmance threshld is t be expected (fr a mre detailed definitin f what can be cnsidered speed see Dimensining f the OMNITRACKER Applicatin and Database Server belw) Unless nted therwise, the specified hardware requirements d nt describe a system cnfiguratin that allws OMNITRACKER t perfrm at ptimal speed. Since OMNITRACKER is an applicatin which may be highly custmized and the cnfiguratin schema may strngly affect the resurce utilizatin (CPU, memry, disk, netwrk, ) it is impssible t recmmend hardware sizing t ptimize perfrmance fr specific cnfiguratins and lad prfiles withut further analysis. Server Dimensining The minimum hardware requirements depend n the usage scenari fr OMNITRACKER. Yu must take int accunt the maximum number f cncurrent users, and the user actin frequency (UAF). User actin frequency (UAF) means the average number f actins a user perfrms per minute. A typical mix f actin types is given in the Applicatin Server and Database Server sectins. Fr less than 100 cncurrent users, yu usually btain the maximum perfrmance if applicatin server and database server are running n the same machine. This requires that the machine is sized in a frm that it can accmmdate bth Page 9 f 14

servers; furthermre, the database server must be cnfigured in a frm that it leaves enugh main memry fr the OMNITRACKER server and the perating system. If yu want t separate applicatin and database servers, yu shuld make sure that bth servers are cnnected via a 1.000 MBIT/s link. Belw yu can find dimensining suggestins fr applicatin and database server. If yu intend t use nly a single server, please add up CPU Passmark rating, RAM sizes, and hard drive requirements respectively. Dimensining f the OMNITRACKER Applicatin and Database Server The fllwing infrmatin is based n the benchmark rating calculated by the Passmark tl PerfrmanceTest 7.0 (www.passmark.cm). With this mix f actin types and the server dimensins given, a reasnable minimum perfrmance culd be achieved fr peak-time user actin frequencies (6 actins per user per minute): A server respnse time (nt cunting client-side prcessing) f less than 3s fr at least 80% f all user actins. (1) Please nte that it is assumed that nly typical actins are perfrmed. Netwrk Cnfiguratin (OMNI- TRACKER) OMNITRACKER uses TCP/IP fr cmmunicatin. Recmmend bandwidths: Fr Windws Client cnnectins, a bandwidth f at least 128 kbit/s per user is recmmended. The netwrk latency shuld nt be higher than 50 ms. Fr Web Client cnnectins, a bandwidth f at least 256 kbit/s per user is recmmended. When perating OMNITRACKER using Terminal Services r Citrix Metaframe, a bandwidth f at least 256 kbit/s per user is recmmended. Fr security reasns, OMNITRACKER applicatins are digitally signed; when they are started, an Internet cnnectin t a certificate revcatin list server is created t ensure the validity f the signature. This check des nt happen, if Windws detects that there is n Internet access. In very rare circumstances, a Windws system might be cnfigured in such a way that it des nt crrectly detect that the current user has n Internet access.
