Citrix Desktop for Home Computers Apple ios Instructions You can use Citrix to create and access a virtual work desktop from your home computer. Step 1 Uninstall: To install the newest version of Citrix on your home computer, you must first uninstall any previous versions you may have. If you are sure you don t have Citrix already installed on your computer, proceed to Step 2. Step 2 Install: Install the Citrix Receiver on your home computer. (Optional step to remove installation driver) Step 3 Access: Access your Citrix Desktop using the Citrix Receiver. (Special instructions for accessing Citrix using Safari) If you experience issues accessing or installing Citrix, please call the ITS Service Desk at x71111. The ITS Service Desk is available during evenings and weekends.
Step 1 Uninstall previous versions of Citrix To begin, you need to uninstall any previous versions of Citrix. 1. In the dock, click on Finder to open a new finder window. 2. Click on Applications in the left navigation bar. Locate the Citrix Receiver application. 3. Delete the application by dragging the icon to the Trash Can, or by right-clicking (control-click) on the icon and selecting Move to Trash.
*Trash can be emptied at this point. Step 2 - Install the Citrix Receiver NOTE: You must be an administrator on your home computer to install the Citrix receiver. 1. To install the new Citrix Receiver, open Safari and go to www.citrix.com 2. Select the Downloads link at the top of the page and click Download Receiver.
The site will automatically detect your operating system and computer, so the next screen should read Download Receiver 12.1.100 (or latest version) for Apple ios. Click on that button to take you to the download screen. 3. Click on the Download Receiver for Mac button.
The install file will be downloaded to your downloads folder. 4. Click on the CitrixReceiver12.1.100.dmg file in your Downloads folder. NOTE: the numbers in the filename may change based on the latest version of the Citrix Receiver. 5. The installer will open a window. Select Install Citrix Receiver.
6. Follow the prompts in the Install Citrix Receiver wizard to complete the install. Click Continue. Select Continue again after reading the software license agreement. Select Agree to the software license agreement to continue.
7. Click Install. This will redirect you to a login page. 8. Enter your Username and Password that you use to log in to your Apple device. 9. The next window will say the installation was successful.
Optional Step: 1. After installation is complete, remove the installer drive from your desktop. 2. Locate the icon and drag it to the trash can. 3. Alternatively, you can right-click (control-click) on the icon and select eject.
Access your Citrix Desktop using the Citrix Receiver You can now launch the Citrix Receiver App from the Launchpad. 1. On launch, you may see a screen similar to the previous version of Citrix. Click on Log On. 2. Enter your York Region Username and Password, and the Citrix window will update itself. 3. Otherwise, you will see the normal Citrix window. To log in, access any app and Citrix will ask you for your York Region Username and Password.
Access your Citrix Desktop using the Safari Browser 1. Open Safari and type https://desktop.york.ca 2. Enter your York Region User name and Password and click Log On. 3. Your browser will prompt you to trust the website and plug in. Click Trust. The Citrix interface will load in your browser window.
4. When you login the first time, your Favorites folder will be empty, click on the APPS tab to access Applications. 5. To add apps to your Favorites, click on Apps at the top of the Citrix window. Find the app you would like, and click Details then click Add To Favorites. NOTE: Work with these apps as you would in a Windows environment. For example, the X to close a Citrix window is in the top right corner, as it would be in Windows, rather than in the top left corner as in Apple s ios. 6. To log off, click your name in the top right corner, then select Log Off.
