1 Load VPN on mac to use Epic (not remote desktop) 1. If you have other citrix applications on your system you need to uninstall them or at least put them in the trash as they may interfere with the installation of these components. 2. You should change the name of your mac to match your R number (a code starting with R followed by 5 digits ex R99999) that should have been supplied to you when you requested VPN access. If you do not have it any more you can call the IS help desk and they can retrieve it for you. If you never had one you need to put in a security request for VPN access. Using this process it may be possible to connect without your R number but it is not recommended and may be against MetroHealth Policy. Note if you currently VPN in on a different device you may be able to get your R number by looking at the name of that device. To set your computer name to your R number: A) Click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of your mac and select System Preferences (your screens may look slightly different depending on your operating system version)

2 At the system preferences screen select Sharing On the sharing screen the top option is Computer Name. Use the edit button to change the name to your R number

3 close the windows and you should be set. 3. Go to and download the mac version of the F5 BIG- IP client. 4. Install the program and run it. Select add new server and add

4 5. Click on the connect button and be sure you get the message that you were able to connect by entering your VPN login information. Be sure to check the save password box so it remembers your password. Once you have established that you can connect click the disconnect button to disconnect for now.

5 The window below will appear as the system connects. This appears in the upper right corner of my desktop.

6 6. Go to receiver/receivers- by- platform/receiver- for- mac- 116.html and download the Citrix receiver for mac. 7. Install and run this program. You will be prompted for an or server name. You can simply click cancel and the program will close. 8. Copy the attached file Hyperspace.ica onto your desktop. 9. Relaunch the F5 BIG- IP client and connect to Metro. Once you have logged in via this route the first time entering your ID and password and setting the save password on, the system should automatically carry you past this step in the future when you launch the F5 BIG- IP client. You will see the window from step 5 but should not have to do anything. 10. Double click on the hyperspace.ica icon on your desktop, which looks like

7 11. You will see a window like. 12. You may see a couple of error messages including Just click OK

8 In this case your computer does not have your R number as its name. This could cause problems with orders and routing but should not be an issue if all you plan to do is chart or work your inbasket from home. It is probably best to fix this as described in step 2. You can click no access and click the don t ask me again button. 13. After this the Epic login window should appear and you should be able to login as you normally would.

9 14. When you are done using epic click the box in the upper right hand corner to close the epic window. Then right click on the F5 client and choose disconnect. Until you disconnect you will not be able to access the rest of the internet. Troubleshooting: 1. If you get the following window you have tried to run hyperspace without first connecting the F5 client.

10 2. If you get a message that your attention is required you likely need to manually click the login button on the screen shown in step 5 above.
