Thesis description: The thesis work has provided seismic dynamic analysis of the bridge according to the Italian design rules DM 5-4-90 (previous Italian code) and of the T. U. for constructions (linked to Ordinance of Prime Minister OPCM 3431/05 in seismic issue). Two different hypothesis of strengthening have been applied to compute the seismic reinforcement of the bridge object of the study. One is based on the use of traditional techniques (increase of crosssections) and the other one is based on the use of innovative materials for constructions (carbon fibres [C-frp] and [srp] steel fibres). The advantages and defects of each of them have been taken into account and have been discussed critically. A.N.A.S. (society that manage the Italian highway network) has commissioned the achievement of the bridge s reinforcement using innovative material and the works have been started since April 2007. The thesis work has been the subject of ANIDIS (Italian National Association of seismic engineering) paper.
