2 The laboratory LAMPIT was established by resolution of the Board of the Department of Defence of Soil in The research activities concern the numerical modeling of flood events, the progressive failure of earthfill dams (dam breach), the sustainable management of resources water, water networks, urban flooding, the quality of water bodies and coastal hydraulics. With the cessation of the Department of Soil, the laboratory now belongs to the Department of Environmental and Chemical Engineering. The Laboratory also carries out teaching support (support activities exercises, placement of students of the Master of Science in Environmental Engineering, dissertations, research doctorate). 6 Mathematical modeling of floods, with particular reference to the phenomena of rapidly varying flood events. Modelling of sustainable management of water resources, aimed at the rapid evaluation of management actions to be activated for the use and reuse of water, with reference to the different uses and different realities of the integrated water system. Study of water supply for the regulation of the pressure and the reduction in losses. Analysis of flooding in urban areas, due to insufficient capacity of drainage systems. In this field, attention is focused on the drainage system design for the fulfillment of the safety conditions for pedestrians and vehicles. In particular, research in experimental and numerical are developed in collaboration with the group FLUMEN UPC (Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain). Mathematical modeling of artificial floods, due to earthfill dam failures (dam breach) and the collapse of masonry dams (dam break). This study was also extended to the worsening of floods due to obstructions and rapids unblocking of the bridges. Models of generation and propagation of floods at a basin scale (overland flow).
