USING ADVANCED FEATURES OF mypantone 2.0 Calibrating a Mobile Device Display mypantone allows you to view color on the go with your iphone 4, ipad or ipod Touch 4. Using PANTONE COLOR MANAGER and the mypantone 2.0 (or later) application, you can calibrate the display of your mobile device to achieve a more accurate rendering of the colors in mypantone. The resulting profile will only be used by the mypantone app. Extreme lighting conditions can adversely affect the visual result on any mobile device. Requirements: - Download the mypantone application from the itunes App Store. - A wireless network is necessary to complete this process. - For best results, turn off dynamic brightness on the mobile device before profiling. - Supported color measurement devices include: ColorMunki Photo or Design spectrophotometer ColorMunki Display colorimeter i1pro spectrophotometer i1display Pro colorimeter i1display 2, i1display 2 LT or ColorMunki Create colorimeter 1. Connect your color measurement device to your computer. 2. Launch PANTONE Color Manager and open the Displays dialog. 3. Connect the mobile device to the same local network as the computer and launch the mypantone application. Do not let the device dim or turn off until you are finished setting up the device in PANTONE Color Manager. 4. The mobile device will appear in the Displays window of PANTONE Color Manager. If it does not appear, verify it is on the same network. Note: It is possible the last mobile device used in PANTONE Color Manager will appear, even if it is not currently on the network. Be sure to select the correct device. 5. Select the mobile device, then the measurement device. 6. Select Profile in the mypantone window.
7. Follow the prompts in PANTONE Color Manager to measure the displayed colors and create a profile. 8. A Display Calibration message will appear on the device asking if you want to profile the display. Select Yes. 9. Follow the instructions in PANTONE Color Manager. When the process is finished, the new profile will be used with mypantone on the mobile device. It is a good idea to re-calibrate every month. Export CMYK to a Mobile Device PANTONE Color Manager allows you export CMYK values to your iphone 4, ipad or ipod Touch 4 using the mypantone 2.0 (or later) application. Generating ICC-based CMYK values that are specific to your workflow will optimize the colors you see on your mobile device. Requirements: - Download the mypantone application from the itunes App Store. - A wireless network is necessary to complete this process. - It is important to keep the mobile device active throughout the entire process. If it goes to sleep, the export will fail. 1. Launch PANTONE Color Manager. 2. Make sure your mobile device is on the same network as your computer and launch the mypantone app. 3. In PANTONE Color Manager, select File > Export > CMYK to mypantone.
4. From the drop-down menu, select the CMYK profile you want to send and Export. This may take some time because PANTONE Color Manager is generating CMYK values for all of the libraries, not just the one you selected. An activity window on the computer will show the progress. 5. In the mypantone app, you will be asked to share the CMYK space. Select Yes. 6. Then a second dialog will ask whether you want to use it as your current CMYK. If you choose Yes, it will be applied and all CMYK numbers will show for this profile. If you choose No, it will not be applied. You can select it later in Settings. 7. On the mobile device, to change the CMYK back to the default or to choose a different profile, select the Settings icon wheel in the bottom right corner of mypantone. 8. Under Display, CMYK will show the current selection.
9. To change it, select the arrow on the right. From this screen you can select any other CMYK bridge that has been shared to this device, or the default. The default provides CMYK values for all colors that include them in the guides, such as the Color Bridge. Note that guides that do not have printed CMYK values will show no entry for CMYK in mypantone 2.0 when you select the Default option. Printing from a Mobile Device MyPANTONE 2.0 allows you to print from your iphone 4, ipad or ipod Touch 4. The printed page will show the selected palette as a page from a guide. Requirements: - Download the mypantone application from the itunes App Store. - A wireless network is necessary to complete this process. = If you do not have AirPrint, you need to install a software package such as Printopia (Mac only). 1. Launch the mypantone 2.0 app on your mobile device. 2. Select the Export icon in the lower left corner,
3. Select the Print the Palette button. 4. Select the printer. 5. Select the number of pages and select Print.
6. The page will print to the selected printer.
