Why invest in medium speed engines? Quick ramp up and ramp down time to support grid fluctuations and variable renewables generation Ensures continuous power supply Ability to locate in remote places to support incomplete grids or in high demand areas such as big cities Ideal for back-up power and grid balancing Minimal derating due to variations in temperature and altitude Cost efficient maintenance with trained service engineers Quick delivery and installation Low capital investment cost and short payback time High efficiency (beyond 95% with CHP) and low emissions 8
Integrated Power Solutions (IPS) Generating set Fuel treatment Engineering & Project Management Financial Services Building Aftermarket Support Heat Recovery System Electrical System The modular and pre-fabricated Integrated Power Solutions (IPS) concept gives you the benefits of a highly efficient, environmentally friendly, cost-effective and approved power plant design. Whether you need a complete power plant, auxiliary power supply or a pumping set, anywhere in the world, we can develop the ideal solution for you. Power plants from 2 MW to 200 MW and beyond can be configured for your application needs. The IPS concept facilitates a decentralised power production concept which minimizes transmission and distribution losses, reduces costs and maximises power availability. High reliability and availability 9
Integrated Power Solutions Applications Our modularised IPS concept is the best option for many applications as lead time is short, and no extensive on-site construction is required. Power ramp-up and ramp-down times are short, and it is easy to adjust the total power output to support a fluctuating energy demand. As the concept is modular, additional generator sets can quickly be added if the total power demand should stabilise on a higher level. Base load Peak shaving and RES* balancing CHP and Trigeneration Greenhouse CHP and CO 2 Emergency power Mechanical drives *Renewable Energy Systems Total life-cycle performance We understand your focus on total life-cycle performance. To help you, we have the infrastructure in place to provide total aftermarket service and support for the entire life of your installation. We provide free technical support through our 24/7 telephone service, to ensure that any unexpected events are taken care of immediately. We offer our expertise from initial technical and economic evaluations through to a fully customised systems design 10

General conditions for stationary engines and generating sets Definition of engine power and performance data are in accordance with ISO 3046-1, ISO 8528-1 and ISO 15550. Engine and generator performance may be adjusted in accordance with application, site conditions, load profile and fuel type. Natural gas operation Reference fuel for gas engines has a lower heating value (LHV) of 36MJ/Nm3 and methane number of >80. Liquid fuel operation Specific fuel oil consumption is based on marine diesel oil (MDO) with a net calorific value of 42,7 MJ/kg and two engine driven pumps. Heavy fuel oil operation The engines are designed for operations on heavy fuel oil with viscosity up to 700 cst at 50 C within ISO 8217. Emissions Engine exhaust emission levels are below the limits for engine driven power plants, as stated in the World Bank Group s Pollution Prevention and Abatement Handbook. Heat recovery Data for arranging heat recovery is available upon request. Dimensions All dimensions are in mm. Dimensions and weights are given for guidance purposes only and are based on a typical specification. For detailed information please contact Bergen Engines.
