More than 450 athletes and coaches will attend these Championships. For a long period of time, the Organizing Committee has worked hard to prepare for the tournament. The goal has been to create the best possible conditions for the athletes to perform their absolute best. In our preparations, we have had great support from the City Council of Vejle and the Unit for Elite Sports in Vejle (EliteVejle) without their huge support, these Championships would simply not be possible. In addition, the support from the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), the Danish Table Tennis Federation and Sport Event Denmark needs to be recognized. Spektrum Vejle is a brand new arena for sports, and I believe and hope all athletes, coaches and officials will feel comfortable in the facilities. The Danish public will support all athletes but of course have a special focus and warm feelings towards the eight Danish players, who have been chosen to compete in Vejle. The Danes are especially hoping to see top player Peter Rosenmeier on the medal rostrum in his home country. Vejle welcomes the 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships On behalf of the city of Vejle it is a great pleasure to welcome you all to the 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championship The city of Vejle is proud to host the 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships, and we will do everything possible to stage a perfect event in the heart of Vejle. As the host city of the 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships Vejle has the perfect setting. The arena is located in the town center, close to hotels, pedestrian s areas and nature, making it easy for participants to get around the city. All the matches will be played in our brand new arena Spektrum Vejle. Vejle has the highest number of hotel rooms outside our Capital Copenhagen and the city has many years experience of arranging conferences, sports events etc. Our location in the heart of Denmark makes it easy to get here by car, train and plane - no matter which direction you arrive from. Vejle is a city of sport: both popular sports and elite sports are promoted and supported. In recognition of this, Vejle is chosen as an Elite municipality by Team Denmark. do this in new and innovative ways and it is a high priority for us that people with disabilities have an everyday life with as few hurdles as possible. We have been looking forward to showing you our city and the way we organize and activate big sports events like this. I hope you will take your time to visit the city center and enjoy the charming buzz of a vibrant city, while you visit one of the numerous cafés and restaurants, take a stroll down the pedestrian s areas or go shopping. The municipality is also rich in culture and history. The Jelling stones just outside the city are recognised as Europe s finest Viking monuments and are a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Jelling stones will be the generally theme of the 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships. As mayor of Vejle, it is with great pleasure that I give my best and warmest welcome to all participants, staff, officials, volunteers and spectators. Arne Sigtenbjerggaard THE VENUE Spektrum Vejle Spektrum Vejle is a brand new sport s arena located in the center of Vejle, with a big shopping mall, pedestrian s area and a large shopping street located within 1-2 kilometers. Spektrum officially opened on September 25, 2015 and the 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championship will be the first official championship to take place in Spektrum. Spektrum has a capacity of 2.800 spectators. ARRIVAL IN BILLUND AIRPORT Our welcoming team will meet you in the arrivals hall and guide you swiftly to the shuttle busses. On your arrival in Billund Airport it is your own responsibility to pick-up your luggage at the baggage claim area and take it through customs. Make sure that your luggage is intact and complete. Otherwise, you must contact the luggage handling company in the baggage claim area for details. If your luggage is delayed please contact the handling company as well. The LOC is neither responsible for any delayed or damaged luggage nor for the communication with the handling company. Please observe that this is your own responsibility. Please allow up to an hour from touch down at Billund Airport until you meet our welcoming team in the arrivals hall in the airport. TRANSPORTATION FROM AND TO BILLUND AIRPORT Our welcoming team in Billund Airport will provide details about the bus services and the shuttle bus will take you to your hotel in Vejle. Wheelchair users will surrender their wheelchairs and ride on the bus and standard wheelchairs will be stored in the luggage compartment of the shuttle bus and brought to your hotel. Players sports wheelchairs will be tagged and transported to the venue separately where they will be securely stored awaiting your pick-up. The welcoming team will have all required information for you on your arrival. Please note that you may experience some waiting time until the shuttle bus is filled and ready for departure for your hotel. The ride to Vejle will take approx. 30 minutes. To sum up please allow a 2 hour window from touching down at Billund Airport till you reach your accommodation in Vejle. Transportation from Vejle to Billund Airport During the 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships our ground transportation team will provide you with all relevant information about your return trip via Billund Airport. Arriving at and departing from Copenhagen Airport The LOC will not have a welcoming committee at Copenhagen Airport. The best way to reach Vejle will be by train. The train station is conveniently situated directly at the Airport Terminal where you also find time tables and ticket offices. Teams and individuals travelling via Copenhagen Airport are responsible for the transportation to and from Vejle. Arriving in Vejle you will be picked up by dedicated transportation outside the terminal building taking you to your hotel. BAGGAGE LABEL FOR ALL BAGS AND EQUIPMENT Please have all your bags and equipment marked clearly with the name of your nation. All bags must have a label which states name and nation. This will make it easier for our transportation staff to identify your bag when you arrive at your hotel. ACCOMMODATION AND HOTEL INFORMATION There are 4 official hotels for athletes, all with wheelchair friendly rooms, which will be used for the 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships. If you arrive by car, please arrange parking individually as hotels may have different sets of regulations. Neither the hotel nor the LOC can be held responsible for any parking irregularities you may encounter. TRANSPORTATION BETWEEN VENUE AND HOTELS Vejle Center Hotel is located right next to the venue and is therefore within easy walking/ wheeling distance of the venue. Hotel Scandic Jacob Gade is located less than 1 kilometre from the venue and frequent shuttle services are available throughout the event. Hotel Best Western Torvehallerne is located less than 1 kilometre from the venue and frequent shuttle services are available throughout the event. Hotel Munkebjerg is located approx. 9 kilometres from the venue. Frequent shuttle services are available throughout the event. When you arrive at your hotel you will be provided with a bus plan. Bus services will start between 06.30 and 07.10 on competition days. It will also be possible to visit the venue on Saturday, 10 October and busses for training on Sunday 11 October will be provided. After the morning rush-hour on competition days hourly shuttle services are available between hrs. 09.00-18.00. For participants staying at Hotel Munkebjerg, telebusses, 6 7

will be provided which means you can call Ground Transportation Manager Palle Pedersen and he will organize transportation - under normal circumstances within an hour. Good transportation for both wheelchair and non-wheelchair-participants is in place. However, if you travel in a big group (more than 4-5) of wheelchair-players, who want to travel at the same time, please let us know in due time. MEALS Please note that the first official meal covered by the LOC will be hotel dinner on your day of arrival starting 9th October, 10th October or 11th October respectively. The last official meal will be hotel breakfast on 18th October. To enter the lunch area at the venue make sure you always wear your accreditation card. CLOSING BANQUET A closing banquet will be held at the venue on Saturday October 17 from hrs. 20.00 to 01.00. Shuttle bus services will be available. Please note that you are NOT allowed to bring beverages of any kind to the closing banquet. The venue security staff is authorized to confiscate it and to exclude you from the banquet. LOC FRONT OFFICE At the venue the LOC will have an information office. The office will be located on the 1st floor in Spektrum the venue. There will be staff present every day from Friday October 9th to Sunday October 18th. Please note that on Sunday October 18th the LOC office will only be open during the morning. To prevent congestion please only send 1 team member to the LOC information office if your team has any inquiries. Please, address all your inquiries to the LOC Front Office. Here our staff will do their best to assist with your inquiry or direct you to another relevant person. ACCREDITATION All athletes, staff, officials and guests will be provided with official accreditation for 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships. This must be presented at all check points and special events. On the back of all accreditations you will find the most important phone numbers. Pick up you accreditation at the LOC Front Office located on the 1st floor in Spektrum. Please only send 1 person to the LOC Information Office to collect accreditations. You will need your accreditation to access the venue and the lunch area. LOC BACK OFFICE The LOC also has a back office located on the 1st floor in Spektrum. But they will all do their best to assist you as promptly as possible. The above phone nos. should only be used in matters of urgency. INFORMATION TO TEAMS DURING THE CHAMPIONSHIP During the 2015 Para Table Tennis European Championships the LOC will circulate various kind of information to teams both from the LOC and ITTF. All teams will be provided with a pigeonhole where the LOC will leave information on a daily basis. Please make sure that you have a team representative checking your pigeonhole at least once a day. Pigeonholes are located at the LOC office at the 1st floor in Spektrum. BOOKING OF MEETING ROOMS In case you require meeting facilities please contact Venue Manager Knud Erik Hansen, phone: +45 21 79 56 42 as meeting facilities may be available at hotels and at the venue. ANTI-DOPING CONTROL Please be advised that this event is subject to drug testing in accordance with the policies and procedures of ITTF, Anti-Doping Denmark and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations. CLASSIFICATION INFORMATION The classification area is at the venue please follow the signs from the entrance. A classification schedule will be distributed to all teams as soon as possible. All new players and players who require a classification review must arrive no later than 9th October one day prior to the classification procedures. Please remember to bring all relevant documents including medical documents and records as well as identification documents such as passport. Please also note that classification requires that you meet up dressed for play including all relevant equipment used during play. All players and support staff are expected to fully cooperate during the classification procedures. EMERGENCIES On the back of your accreditation you will find the most important phone numbers to use in case of an emergency. In case of an emergency please always inform Event Director Mette Holstein phone +45 24 45 26 55. The emergency definition during the 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships include a person in danger, bad injuries, medical attention right away, need for an ambulance, fire or likewise but exclude matters regarding hotel rooms, classification, food service or transportation issues etc. the latter to be addressed to the LOC Front office where our staff will assist you. Please note important phone numbers If a team member is in a life threatening situation and needs an ambulance right away please call 112 from any phone and you will get in touch with the emergency services in Denmark. If a team member is in the need of medical attention due to an injury or illness you can always call this number 24 hours a day + 45 70 11 07 07. This service will guide you to the right treatment. If you need transportation to the Emergency Room after consulting this service please contact the LOC Front office where we will help you with transportation. REPAIR STATION Local repair shops offer the possibility of repairing wheelchairs. This service is available: Monday 12 October to Saturday 17 October from 12.00-14.00 During these hours a mechanic will be available at the venue who will provide a fee check of your wheelchair. Outside these hours we can call a mechanic within 30 min please contact the LOC Front Office. Nations are responsible themselves to make arrangements with the Wheelchair Repair Station regarding any repairs. The wheelchair repair station must be paid cash (DANISH CURRENCY ONLY) after any repair. Please discuss and accept prices prior to repairs. The repair station does not accept Euros or credit cards. We recommend that you get a signed receipt after any repair. The LOC will not be involved in any matter concerning repairs. LAUNDRY There are limited possibilities of doing laundry at the hotels. Please make individual arrangements with your hotel that will happily assist you. The LOC is not able to provide any laundry service, - assistance nor to take on any responsibilities related to this. OPENING RECEPTION On Sunday 11th October from hours 13.00 15.00 the LOC will host a welcoming reception at Kongernes Jelling for teams, officials, ITTF Para Table Tennis Division, ITTF staff and the LOC. During the welcome reception lunch will be served for all guests. The LOC would request a minimum of 2 to max 4 representatives from each participating nation of which one must be the Team captain and Head of Delegation. The LOC will circulate further information regarding this event before your arrival in Vejle. Here we will ask all teams, in a form, to indicate their reception participants. Please return this form to the LOC Information Office. Participants will be picked up at their hotels. LOCAL CURRENCY The local currency in Denmark is Danish Kroner (DKK) but many stores also accept Euros. Credit cards such as VISA, MasterCard and EuroCard will be accepted in most stores and at the hotels. However, we recommend that you also bring Danish Kroner. LOCAL SUPERMARKET The Shopping Mall Bryggen is located approx. 1 km from the venue. Here you will find different stores including a grocery store. www.bryggen.com DRINKING WATER It is safe to drink water from the tap! The quality of tap water in Denmark is extremely high - among the highest in the world and the water is cleaner than bottled water. Therefore, it is safe to drink water from the tap. Bottled water can be purchased from all local groceries, the café or vending machines at the venue. SMOKING POLICY Spektrum and DGI Huset operate a nonsmoking policy. It is forbidden to smoke in any part of the Venue and in any of the hotels used for the 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships. Limited outdoor smoking areas are clearly marked. The LOC would highly appreciate that no athletes or team members smoke outside the venue at any time as we have spectators, guests, VIPs, the press and sponsors visiting the arena thoughout the 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships SHOWER CHAIRS Shower chairs will be available at all hotels. If not already in the shower on your arrival please contact hotel reception alternatively contact the LOC information office in case of questions. ACCESSIBLE TOILETS There are accessible and clearly marked toilet facilities placed though-out the venue. FREE WIFI Free Wifi will be available in all hotels and at the venue. Pick up WIFI details from the LOC Front office. ON-LINE STREAMING The 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships will be streamed on-line. Further details will be available on your arrival. RESULTS All results will be presented at the website during 2015 ITTF Para Table Tennis European Championships www.paratabletennis2015.dk INSURANCE All participating nations must arrange relevant insurance for the entire duration of their stay. The insurance should cover all competitors, staff and officials. The LOC will not cover any guarantees concerning theft, breakdowns and damages of your equipment, wheelchairs, etc. 12 13

The museum offers a unique and super modern sensory experience regarding the life and legacy of the Vikings. A voyage from the stories that were told around the fireplace to the life as a Viking and a warrior, the path to Valhalla as well as the transition to Christianity.
