PRESS KIT WHAT IS ANOMALIA In the recent years, an animation and multimedia studio Bohemian Multimedia focuses also on the subject of education to support the animation industry in the Czech republic as well as the central european region through establishing a platform for professional training and networking between industry subjects. The platform has been named ANOMALIA. The primary goal and nature of organising the professional workshops and seminars is to be able to respond to the ever changing industry standards and needs in terms of growing demand for digital content and qualified talents. 1

HISTORY 2008-2009 2008 In November 2008, series of professional workshops on use of 3D animation in the themes of production, financing and animation was introduced first time for audience in Central and Eastern Europe. The Czech Ministry of Culture and the Visegrad Fund financially supported this series of workshops as mean to enhance competitiveness increase of the industry. Following workshops were introduced in 2008: 1. International Animation Market Overview and Trends with Mike Robinson and Christian Davin 2. Production Concepts in 3D Animation with Isaac Kerlow 2009 In November 2009 we held two separate workshops on storytelling and production. Three day practical hands-on workshop on Storytelling with Isaac Kerlow (Disney) aimed at exploration of principles and techniques of storytelling as they apply to the unique format and production challenges of animated shorts. Second workshop was more as a forum presented selected animation projects from across Europe called Making of Animation Projects. It aimed at introducing discussion on production challenges from the production point of view by representatives as producers, directors, technical supervisors and animators from France, Denmark, Poland and Czech. 3. 3D Character Animation Masterclass with Kyle Balda More info at: www.anomalia.eu/2009 2

REFERENCES students told about us The ANOMALIA masterclasses have been a g r e a t b e n e f i t a n d inspiration for me. Thanks to the experience of the speakers, new methodologi and way of thinking during the animation process, this event was very useful for both 3D and 2D animators. I would definitely like to attend other similar events in the future. Thank you. Jakub Ryvola, creative director Symbio Digital It was a pleasure to watch Kyle Balda to work, meaning animating a character in Maya. Both masterclasses that I have attended were a great experience. I have learnt so much of new, confirmed what i had known before and at the end met some very interesting people from the industry. Jakub Šporek, 3D artist Česká televize I had the opportunity to attend the workshop with a director Isaac Kerlow. I have found this event very interesting. Not only that I have been assured our own ways of working in our studio are correct, I have also been exposed to m a n y n e w t h i n g s regarding 3D production. I would welcome these workshops in the future, even more of those where students can sit down and work on a computer under the supervision of an industry professional se w e c o u l d d i s c u s s specific problems. In my opinion it is the best way how to learn and put it into practice in short time. Aleš Dlabač, Head of 3D - Universal Production Partners, a.s. (UPP) Kyle Balda s workshop is a great opportunity to gain a very solid point of view on the subject of 3D animation. The lessons are both suited for beginners as well as experienced animators. A beginer will appreciate the complexity of each lesson, story structure, editing, composition, acting and that all presented in terms an animator understands. More advanced animators can also meet a much more experienced professional that works in the industry since 1993. I hope there will be many more high-end workshops like this Radek Růžička a Jakub Sršeň - Alkay Animation Prague The orkshops were very professionally organized and i can really recommend it for everybody. Seminars onsite such as these with professionals from Disney and Pixar as well as informal discussions are so very much beneficial and motivating. I m already looking forward to next events Libor Pixa, director and animator, teacher at Famu T h e w o r k s h o p h a s showed me a good comparison between the czech and world indrustry. New ways to prepare pitching of a project, opportunity to learn how to put together a team and workflow. In summary i conclude it was a well spent time Jana Berbová, production - Tobogang 3
