Page 4 of 6 1. Purpose This method of statement covers the on-site installation of Cable Trays, Trunking & Cable Ladders as defined in the General Specification. 2. Scope of Works This procedure will define the method to be used to ensure that cable trays, trunking & ladders installations are correct and acceptable and shall conform to the Contract Documents and Specification. 3. Responsible Personnel on Site 3.1. Construction Manager 3.2. Electrical Field Engineers 3.3. Safety Officer 3.4. QA/QC Engineer 3.5. Electrical Supervisors 4. Storage 4.1 Cable Trays, Trunking and Ladders shall be properly supported and stacked on a flat surface. 4.2 Cable Trays, Trunking and Ladders shall be protected from sunlight and moisture by covering them with tarpaulin. 4.3 Cable Trays, Trunking and Ladders shall be stacked properly in neat and orderly manner. 4.4 Cable Trays, Trunking and Ladders shall be stored and stacked in dry area and shall be properly protected..

Pre-Installation 5.1 All materials and documentation relevant to this particular Section of works will be checked by the Construction Department prior to the commencement of works ensuring that these are correct type as reviewed. 5.2 Before any permanent works will proceed, pre-inspection on all materials, tools and access for installation to be carried out. 6. Installation 6.1 Establish the Cable Trays, Trunking and Ladder route on slab soffit and walls, and mark with chalk liner. Ensure that the route conform with the latest coordinated services drawings. 6.2 Mark the locations of supports. For horizontal installation spacing between supports shall not exceed 1.5m for trunking and 1.2m for cable trays and ladders and not more than 150mm from all bends and tees. For vertical installation, spacing between supports shall not exceed 3m for trunking and 1.5m for cable trays and ladders. 6.3 Install the threaded rod and angle bar supports for horizontal installation and uni-strut channel for vertical supports. Make sure that the supports are properly anchored, rigid and aligned. 6.4 Install Cable trays, trunking and ladders ensuring that it is properly fixed to its supports. Where necessary to cut the cable trays, the cutting line of the cable trays shall be through continuous metal parts and not through the perforation. Burrs and sharp ends shall be removed prior to the installation of tray section or accessories. 6.5 Cable Trays, Trunking and Ladders shall be connected to adjacent lengths, tees, bends and fittings with approved couplers and securely fastened by mushroom head steel roofing bolts and nuts. Connection shall be mechanically strong so that there is no relative movement between joints. 6.6 Earth links shall be fixed on the adjacent connection of Cable trays, trunking and ladders and fittings to maintain the electro-mechanical continuity on the runs of cable trays, trunking and ladders. 6.7 Where cable tray or cable ladder crosses, expansion joints, adjacent length of cable tray or ladder shall not be joined and shall be bridged only with a flexible earth connector.

Page 6 of 6 6.8 A minimum clear space of 25mm shall be kept behind all installed runs of cable trays. Where in a cable trays carrying power cables run in parallel with low current cable trays, a 300mm minimum clear distance shall be kept throughout the installation. 6.9 Raise Request for Inspection for the Cable Trays, Trunking and Ladders Installation. 7. Reference Documents 7.1 Approved Electrical Shop Drawings 7.2 Approved Material Submittals 7.3 Approved Material Inspection Report 7.4 Approved Safety Plan 7.5 Approved QA/QC Inspection & Test Plan. 8. Safety 8.1 All safety precautions shall be followed as per approved safety plan & procedure. Ensure all involved persons are aware of the same. 8.2 Safety Officer to ensure that all working flat forms shall be safe and in good condition. 8.3 Tradesman shall ensure that before leaving their working places, it must be clean, tidy and free from rubbish. ------------------------ Procedure End----------------------
