The Quareo Infrastructure Configuration Manager (ICM) is a server software application designed to document and administer both passive and active network connectivity infrastructure. ICM enables management of various levels of network components from existing brownfield infrastructure to CommScope s traditional and automated physical layer management solutions. ICM creates an automated, accurate, real-time physical layer management system that is designed to explore, discover and map all the connections of the network, allowing data center and network managers to simplify the process of all moves, adds and changes, improve security and reduce operating expense. CommScope s Quareo physical layer management solutions, enabled by ICM, helps customers eliminate time-consuming manual work order processes, easily identify and locate specific ports, auto-discover IP assets, and trace data center circuits from the switch through the cross-connect to the server. The systems also help maximize network investment by identifying under-utilized assets and improving security through real-time monitoring and programmable alerts. ICM supports technician mobility through the Quareo ICM mobile software. ICM mobile software is the on-the-go physical network management tool for use with an active ICM software license. Downloadable from itunes, ICM mobile software links with your ICM server to coordinate planned work orders, event notifications, on-the-fly lookups and provide direct technician messaging and responses while enabling unprecedented management, details, and control of the Information Transport System (ITS). 1

ICM is designed to allow customers to document and administrate existing standard network components, plan for and define network elements and expansions, as well providing a migration path to new product and architectures over the entire lifecycle of the physical layer network. When used with the Quareo physical layer management system, ICM enables immediate notification and response to changes in connectivity and automatically records the configurations of the physical layer cabling system and its devices with accurate documentation. Other advantages of deploying ICM include: Accountability of assets by location and date Availability of assets and utilization is improved Reduced operational costs Best practice and regulatory requirements are more easily attained Network problems are more easily diagnosed and corrected Security is greatly enhanced Remote visibility of the physical layer The advanced system architecture allows full customization of the graphical user interface. Multiple users and multiple screens can be supported enhancing the usefulness of the system. Different color schemes are available that can be applied on a per user basis enhancing the user interface experience. The graphical user interface supports multiple screens that visualize the network physical infrastructure in a detail not previously available. User access and profiles can be secured and controlled to a granular level based on responsibilities, roles and use cases. The network infrastructure can be viewed in a classical tree hierarchy with branches nested below. Additionally, multiple drawings of a building can be added to the database and these can be allocated to different parts of the building, floor or room that is documented. These drawings can have network assets placed and these assets remain dynamic within the drawing, allowing for information to be coordinated and viewed with a single click. 2
The network rack, cabinet or closet can be documented and visualized in full detail that shows the front and rear of any installed assets. Patch cables and their planned routing can be viewed including estimated minimum lengths. Circuit traces can be viewed showing every element of the circuit path from switch port to end device and all intermediate steps. This circuit trace is also available in textual format from the front of the AMPTRAC analyzer. Asset details are recorded and displayed in multiple screens and views. These details combine discovered and manually provided information. Asset utilization can be continually monitored* with charts/meters providing instantaneous and real time updates at a glance. All documented information can be searched in real time and items immediately displayed. With a fully documented network, reports can be used to provide active and passive utilization, availability and asset details. ICM contains numerous reports but also provides flexibility for users to write and tailor reports to suit organizational and compliance needs. ICM boasts over 30 different views or frames of information, many of them graphical in nature, which can be used individually for specific details, or in combination to perform common tasks or determine more complex findings. With pre-defined screen layouts of typically required frames of information, the ICM server software is organized into seven common tasks: System status Work orders User administration System configuration Network Explorer Alarms Reports * Monitoring intervals of electronics dependent on customer defined Discovery configurations 3
Custom views and combinations of various frames can be established and saved for specific tasks or processes that require unique determinations or information. Basic views that are most commonly used as building blocks to make basic determinations and support common tasks are: Equipment View Accurate real time view of equipment in closet or rack Asset Tree View of all network assets showing parents and children Asset Details View specific network components with details from location to utilization Circuit Traces View end-to-end circuits with all connection points Plan View Floor plan can be added with interactive links to assets and locations Event view Real-time view of all events and status with filters Alarms Configurable alarms with status, persistence and acknowledgement capabilities Server and Software requirements Other key features of ICM include: Automatic discovery Switches and end devices can be discovered and placed in the DB Multiple reports Powerful report tool with support for BIRT reporting Accurate and simple search Full contextual search with filtering by class available User/Role configuration Flexible user configuration supports LDAP and local passwords Work Order system Flexible work order system for full work flow management API and SDK Ease of integration with third-party software Fully compatible with the Quareo system Minimum Server Hardware Requirements Processor: Dual core 2 GHz or higher (x64) processor required Memory: 8 GB Available Disk Space: 20 GB Network connection 1 GB Network card Server Operating System Requirements Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 and above (64-bit) Database Requirements As part of the installation process, the following database platform will be installed on your server: PostgreSQL 9.1 Apache Tomcat Web server Other Requirements Java Runtime Engine 1.6 or higher (can be installed as part of ICM installation) Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.62 or higher (client desktop only) Administrator log in privileges on the server for installation Supported Web browsers IE 8 or higher Firefox 10.0.2 or higher ICM may work in other browsers, but they have not been tested, and are not supported.
