Literacy Advantage Physical Science Physical Science Literacy Advantage offers a tightly focused curriculum designed to address fundamental concepts such as the nature and structure of matter, the characteristics of energy, and the overriding principles of force. Course topics include motion and forces, including two-dimensional motion and gravity; momentum; waves; electricity; atoms; the periodic table of elements; molecular bonding; chemical reactivity; gases; and an introduction to nuclear energy. All text is written with controlled vocabulary and syntax. This accessible text supports students in comprehending academic content. Literacy development is promoted through explicit instruction in active-reading and vocabulary strategies. Students also develop comprehension strategies unique to academic reading and learning in the sciences.
