Stan Van Gundy has completed his second season as president of basketball operations and head coach for the Detroit Pistons, after being named to the positions on May 14, 214. After a 32-5 record in his first season, Van Gundy led the Pistons to a 44-38 record in 215-16 (a 12-game improvement), leading Detroit to its first above-.5 record since 27-8 and first postseason appearance since the 28-9 season. This marks Van Gundy s eighth playoff appearance in 1 seasons as a head coach and also his eight season finishing with a better than.5 record. In addition to his coaching duties, Van Gundy oversees all aspects of the basketball operations department. His most recent executive move saw the Pistons acquire versatile forward Tobias Harris from the Orlando Magic in exchange for Brandon Jennings and Ersan Ilyasova at the 215-16 trade deadline.
