4 EVEN MORE PLAYOFF POTPOURRI: The Rockets rebounded the Warriors in each of the final three games and by 3.8 rpg overall for the series Houston was outrebounded by 1,5 rpg during the regular season and was 26-9 when outrebounding the opposition and when failing to do so. Houston had 90 assists with 95 turnovers for the series and Golden State averaged 23.6 points off turnovers the Rockets averaged 24.4 apg over the final 16 regular season games, up from 21.7 apg the first 66 games the Rockets averaged just 14.7 tpg over the final 20 regular season games, down from 16.3 the first 62 games. Golden State recorded 25+ assists in four of the five games and averaged 28.8 apg for the series Rocket opponents averaged 24.5 apg this season, up from 21.4 in Houston was when the opposition had 25+ assists during the regular season after that occurred 18 times in (Rockets 8-10 mark). James Harden averaged 26.6 points, 7.6 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 2.40 steals for the series he is just the fifth player in NBA playoff history to average at least 26.0 points, 7.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.00 steals for a single postseason, joining Clyde Drexler, Michael Jorden (4 times), Isiah Thomas and Russell Westbrook. Harden, Jordan (twice) and Westbrook are the only players to do so while playing at least five games. James Harden had 18 points, 10 assists, 7 rebounds and a franchise playoff-high tying 7 steals in Game 4 according to the Elias Sports Bureau, he became the third player in NBA playoff history to post those numbers (Rick Barry with 25/11/7/7 for Golden State vs. Detroit on 4/28/76 and Magic Johnson w/19/18/9/7 for the L.A. Lakers vs. Portland on 4/24/83). Dwight Howard averaged 13.2 points and 14.0 rebounds for the series and is averaging 19.1 points and 14.1 rebounds for his playoff career he is one of three players in NBA playoff history (Wilt Chamberlain and Bob Petit) with career averages of at least 19.0 ppg and 14.0 rpg (10+ games played) Howard had 21 rebounds in Game 5, marking the 10th time he has grabbed 20+ boards in the playoffs. Michael Beasley averaged 10.4 points in just 16.1 minutes per game for the series he was the Rockets second-leading scorer with 13.6 ppg on 52.8% shooting in 19.4 mpg over the final 18 games of the regular season. SEASON NOTES A TRADITION LIKE FEW OTHERS: The Rockets finished with a mark (.500). Houston has gone.500 or better in each of the past 10 seasons. Only two other teams (Dallas and San Antonio) have gone.500 or better in each of the past 10 seasons. Dating back to , the Rockets have gone.500 or in 29 of 32 seasons. No other team has done so more than 27 seasons (San Antonio and Utah). Houston has the fourth-highest winning percentage (.566; ) of any team dating back to CHUTES AND LADDERS: The Rockets started the season with a 4-7 mark before Kevin McHale was relieved of his head coaching duties and assistant coach J.B. Bickerstaff was named interim head coach prior to the game vs. Portland on 11/18. Houston proceeded to go from 11/18-1/25, but went 4-9 from 1/27-2/29. The Rockets won four of the first five games in March before going 4-7 the rest of the month. Houston went 4-2 in April, closing the season with a three-game winning streak. Clippers on 1/18, snapping an 11-game winning streak in overtime dating back to That was tied for the second-longest streak in NBA history. Bickerstaff is in his fifth season with the Rockets after spending the previous four seasons as an assistant coach with Minnesota. Prior to joining the Timberwolves, he spent three seasons as an assistant coach to his father Bernie Bickerstaff in Charlotte. Bickerstaff played collegiately at Oregon State before finishing his career at the University of Minnesota.
