Logging on to Employee Self-service (ESS) for the first time Step 1 Navigating to Employee Self-service Navigate to Employee Self-service by typing this URL into your Browser: https://ess.che-ma.org (It is very important to remember to include the s at the end of http and DO NOT type www in front of the URL) Since we are using a secured connection, you may receive a security alert dialog box when you attempt to log in. Just click Yes to proceed to the site. You can install the certificate which will keep this message from coming up in the future but that requires a separate procedure. If you would like to receive the documentation that explains how to install the certificate, please send an email to bprappsup@che.org Add the link to your Favorites list in your browser so you do not have to remember the URL. You will be presented with the Lawson Login Screen. If you DO NOT get the Lawson Login Screen, please contact your IT Helpdesk at (518) 525-1240 the following business day for assistance. Step 2 Updating Microsoft Internet Explorer xml patches If you are running Microsoft Internet Explorer (ver 5.5 or 6.0), you MUST install the xml patches for your browser. Refer to the Browser Requirements for Employee Self-service (ESS) section above for detailed instructions. Step 3 Logging in From the Login Screen, type your assigned User ID and Password included with the accompanying letter. If you CANNOT login to the Lawson Login Screen, please contact your IT Helpdesk at (518) 525-1240 the following business day for assistance.
Step 4 Changing your password Your assigned password is a random number that is generated by the system, for your own convenience and security; you should change this assigned password the first time you login to the system. Follow the instructions and the screenshots that follow to change your password. This process can be used at any time to change your password. Click on Change Portal Password under Actions A popup window will be shown Username is the user name you have been assigned Old password is the password you were assigned in this accompanying letter New password can be anything you can remember, but there are a few rules: 1. Length of the new password needs to be greater than 6 characters long. 2. Password cannot be the word password After changing your password, Click on Press to Login Again to login with your new password Step 5 Update your e-mail address on file In order to support the Forgot Password? functionality build into the system (see separate document in this packet called Employee Self-service (ESS) Forgot Password?), it is necessary for us to have an e-mail address on file. This is so that we know what e-mail address to use when sending you a new system generated password in the event you forget your
password and need a new one generated. The e-mail address can be a work e-mail or a personal e-mail address (even Yahoo or Hotmail). In the event that you do not have an e-mail address or access to an e-mail account, we will default an e-mail address that is monitored by your local HR Department. In the event that you do not have an e-mail address and need to reset your password, a generic e-mail address will be loaded into your profile. If you process a password reset, your new password will be sent to that e-mail address that is monitored by your HR department. Please contact them during normal business hours to obtain your new password. Change your personal e-mail Address Click on Change Personal E- mail under Actions A popup box will display If your e-mail address is not already loaded into the system (if we know your work e-mail, we try to default that whenever possible). Enter your New E-mail Address and Confirm New E-mail address, click on Update A confirmation will be shown: Click on OK, your e-mail change is now complete
