6 7 CONTROLLED PORT FACILITY PORTO SUDESTE BRAZIL SOUTH AMERICA NEW IRON ORE ROUTE Porto Sudeste is a private port in Ilha da Madeira, Itaguaí, Brazil. Now in the final stages of construction, the terminal will become operational in August 2014. The facility will initially have the capability to handle in excess of 50 million tonnes of iron ore per year, with an expansion capacity up to 100 million tonnes per year. 8 9 OWNED PORT FACILITY BURNSIDE LOUISIANA NORTH AMERICA INVESTING FOR GROWTH Impala acquired the Burnside Terminal in Ascension Parish, Louisiana in 2011 to create a state-of-the-art bulk terminal for coal, bauxite, alumina and other bulk commodities. The terminal, located on the Lower Mississippi River, becomes fully operational in May 2014 and will be one of the top coal bulk logistics facilities in the US. It will be the only port on the Mississippi River to offer both rail-to-vessel and barge-to-vessel capability. Its strategic location allows ready access to a number of major railroads for immediate transport of bulk commodities to regions worldwide. 10 11 CONTROLLED PORT FACILITY CALLAO PERU SOUTH AMERICA BENCHMARK FOR INTERNATIONAL SAMPLING AND PRODUCT TESTING Fully integrated sampling and testing area Sampling and sample preparation to international standards (ISO 10251, ISO 12743) Barcode monitoring and control Third-party supervision and remote CCTV recording Natural state sample preparation: one to customer and one stored for six-month control/comparison test Fully equipped testing and assay laboratory including X-ray and traditional chemical analysis methods STANDARDS Impala s investment in the Port of Callao will make it the largest export location for the Peruvian mining sector. Impala has rapidly established its Callao operation as a leader in delivering specialised logistics services to producers and traders for storage, loading, unloading, and other complementary activities. Our investment in new infrastructure, state-of-the-art technology and management training is helping Impala Callao meet international standards for quality, delivery and operations including leading health, safety, environment standards and community engagement. FROM WAREHOUSE TO BERTH Our warehouses are directly connected to the berth via a 3.3-kilometre fully enclosed conveyor belt, an automatic ship loader and a dedicated berth. This enables customers to have access to high-speed transfers and associated loading capacity. OPERATIONS 24-hour operations and highly trained staff WAREHOUSE SAFETY We operate our fully enclosed lead concentrates warehouse at a reduced pressure to mitigate the risk of lead particles escaping. Compliance with local and international standards Fully enclosed reduced pressure lead concentrates warehouses Rail car discharge facility Secure perimeter PERSONAL SAFETY For our staff, it is mandatory to use personal protective equipment and we check the effectiveness of this measure by frequent assessment of blood/lead levels. Our maximum permitted value for blood/lead is half that as recommended by the World Health Organisation. ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY For the environment, we monitor lead levels on surrounding buildings via particle detectors to ensure protection extends from both inside to outside the walls of our facility. 12 13 CONTROLLED PORT FACILITY BARRANQUILLA COLOMBIA SOUTH AMERICA SEA, RIVER & ROAD Barranquilla is Colombia s fourth-largest city and a major port serving international markets. Our port facilities in Barranquilla provide a gateway to a network of Impala terminals along the Magdalena River, the country s most important waterway. We provide a complete multi-modal logistics solution to support the efficient movement of commodities, with a focus on servicing Colombia s inland oil and mining sectors. Six-hundred kilometres from the ocean on the Magdalena River, Impala s new port in Barrancabermeja will change the logistics landscape of Colombia and unlock new global trading opportunities for Colombian exporters. 16 17 OPERATED TERMINAL WITHIN PORT MANZANILLO MEXICO NORTH AMERICA STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES Manzanillo is the busiest port in Mexico. Our warehousing operations occupy 13 hectares (with three additional plots available for future expansion). Accurate and timely assaying is critical for producers delivering concentrates into warehouses prior to being shipped. At Manzanillo, we have an on-site laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and expert staff. We provide our customers with immediate access to results they need, without costly delays. Built to London Metal Exchange (LME) standards, its strategic location near Shanghai facilitates international and domestic trade flows.
