SANCTION: #201602191 2016 VALENTINE S DAY INVITATIONAL Hosted by Northern Lights Swim Club Boosters Bartlett Pool February 19 & 20, 2016 This meet will be conducted under sanction by USA Swimming and Alaska Swimming, Inc. (ASI). It is undersood and agreed that USA Swimming shall be free from any liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injurites to anyone during the conduct of the event. Masters swimmers desiring to compete must have current USA Swimming registration. FACILITY: 50 meter pool divided by moveable bulkheads into two 25-yard competition pools, each with 8 lanes, divided by Kiefer/Flo-thru lane lines. An IST Timeware System will be used, with 8-lane display, lane touch pads, 1 button and 2 watches manual back-up, and horn/strobe start. Bartlett is not a USAS certified pool. This competition course has not been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4). The depth of the pool upon entry in the deep end is 12 feet and the depth at the turn is 5 feet. The depth of the pool upon entry in the shallow end is 4 feet on the start and 4 feet 10 inches on the turn. Consistent with ASI rules, warm ups are intended to last one hour, but can be extended at the discretion of the Meet Referee. ELIGIBILITY: Open to all swimmers currently registered with USA Swimming. Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. ENTRIES: 1. Each swimmer may swim up to a maximum of five (5) individual events per day (including time trials), in addition to relays. 2. Entries must be submitted using Hytek or Team Unify formats. In accordance with Article 3.A.8A a paper alternative shall be available, therefore a Meet Entry form is available upon request.) Note: to verify email entries, please send a Team Entry Report and Team Meet Fees Report as generated by Hy-Tek Team Manager 3. A pre-built.hyv file for this meet is available on the ASI website or by email request to the Meet Entries volunteer (see below). 4. ADAPTIVE SWIMMERS: RULES: Disabled swimmers are encouraged to participate. Coaches should include with the team entries a copy of the Information Form for Disabled Swimmers (also available on the ASI website), specifying the special needs of any adaptive swimmer(s), as well as requests for non-standard entries (for example, entries in other age groups). Questions regarding final assignment within specific heats should be brought to the attention of the Meet Referee. 1. Current USA Swimming and ASI rules govern this meet and take precedence over any item in this invitation. 2. All events will be swum as timed finals. With the exception of the 500 free &/or 400 IM, events will be seeded slowest to fastest. 3. All events will be pre-seeded, except for the 500 Free &/or 400IM (See #6 below). 4. Coaches will check in each day with the Clerk-of-Course before the times designated above to scratch or add swimmers for events for that day. Fees for adding swimmers will be billed to the teams after the meet. There are no refunds for scratching swimmers from events. Swimmers will only be added if there is space available in existing heats. No reseeding will be done. 5. There will be no guaranteed twenty-minute break between individual swims, however, the Meet Referee may schedule breaks between events. 6. The 500free &/or 400IM will be deck seeded with positive check-in with the Clerk of Course (by a time set by the Meet Referee). These events may be contested fastest to slowest. At the discretion of the referee, these events may be combined by age and/or gender. Swimmers are responsible for providing their own Timers and Lap Counter. 7. Open events may be swum by any swimmer in any age group. 8. Events may be combined and/or reseeded at the discretion of the Meet Referee. 9. At the Meet Referee s option, if available equipment and deck personnel allow, competition may be held in both 25-yard pools simultaneously. The Meet Referee will determine before the Coach s meeting each day whether that session of the meet will be competed as combined in one pool or split into two pools. Should the meet be split into 2 pools, the Meet Referee may add periodic breaks in the Order of Events as deemed appropriate (recognizing rule 5 above). ). If the meet is double-ended, seeding status, number of entries, and which end boys and girls swam in the previous meet may be considered in assigning end of swims for boys, girls, and 8&unders, but the Meet Referee has discretion and makes the final determination. If the meet is double-ended, the boys events may be swum in 6 lanes, with a buffer lane and a warmup/cool down lane. Additionally, the 500 free &/or 400IM may be swum in both pools. 10. Per USA Swimming regulations, no smoking or other use of tobacco products are permitted during the meet in any area on the deck, in the pool building, or outside adjacent to the pool building prior to, during, or after the meet. 11. Per USA Swimming regulations the use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, restrooms, or locker rooms. 12. Except where venue facilities require otherwise, changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is prohibited. 13. Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. ENTRY FEES: Entry Fee $3.50 per swimmer Facility Charge $10.00 per swimmer Individual Event Fee $2.50 per event Relay Event Fee $5.50 per relay team entry Late Fee $5.00 per swimmer (up to a team maximum of $50) Please make checks payable to: NLSCB or Northern Lights Swim Club Boosters and turn them in at the Computer Table or to the Meet Director PRIOR TO meet commencement on Friday ENTRY DEADLINE: Emailed entries must be received at sean.tyree@countryfinancial.com no later than WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2016. ENTRY FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE. **NLSCB will make every effort to acknowledge receipt of entries with the team coach or person submitting the entries. However, it is ultimately the responsibility of the Team Coach to confirm receipt of their team s entries by the Entries Volunteer. Coaches whose teams have not received confirmation by the deadline should contact the Entries Volunteer to verify receipt of the entries before the deadline** ENTRIES RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE MEET PROGRAM. ALL LATE ENTRIES WILL BE MADE ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS, AS SPACE IN THE EVENT ALLOWS. NO HEATS WILL BE ADDED TO ACCOMMODATE SWIMMERS WISHING TO BE ADDED. SCORING: AWARDS: TIME TRIALS: TIMERS: No individual or team points will be recorded. Ribbons will be awarded for places 1 through 8 in each individual event. Swimmers may request to swim time trials at the end of the Saturday session, subject to approval by the Meet Referee, and must not exceed the maximum number of individual swims per day allowed (5). The swimmers are responsible for providing timers. All swimmers participating in the time trails, including those swimming as pacers, will be charged an event entry fee (which will be billed to the swim team after the meet). Pace swimmers are also subject to the restriction on maximum number of swims daily. A MINIMUM OF 16 TIMERS WILL BE NEEDED THROUGHOUT THE MEET, AND WE ASK THAT THIS RESPONSIBILITY BE SHARED WITH ALL PARTICIPATING TEAMS. PLEASE PROVIDE AT LEAST 1 LANE TIMER FROM YOUR TEAM FOR EACH 10 SWIMMERS ENTERED IN THE MEET. HOSPITALITY ROOM: A hospitality room will be provided on Saturday for coaches, officials, timers and all other volunteer workers on deck. CONCESSIONS: HOUSING: POOL REMINDERS: MEET MOBILE: A variety of nutritious foods will be provided at the concession stand on Saturday. NLSCB is arranging for a concessionaire to sell meet T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc., on Saturday. None provided. NO GLASS ON DECK AT ANY TIME. NO SHAVING ALLOWED ON SITE. NO PHOTO OR VIDEO RECORDING DEVICES MAY BE USED IN LOCKERROOMS AT ANY TIME. NLSC intends to publish heat sheets electronically with the Meet Mobile Application for $1.99. In an effort to be more environmentally conscious, reduce waste, and not circulate inaccurate information from late additions and changes, there will be no printed heat sheets with the exception of on deck personnel that are printed just before the meet start.
