China Travel Mission 2016 Prospectus 23 to 26 October Shanghai, China Page 1 of 6

Overview Tourism Western Australia (Tourism WA) invites tourism businesses in Western Australia to participate in the annual Western Australia China Travel Mission 2016 (WACTM 2016), which will be held in Shanghai, China from 23 to 26 October 2016. WACTM 2016 provides a superb opportunity for representatives from the WA tourism industry to establish business relationships with key qualified travel agencies and tour operators from China and Hong Kong, including the main cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Changsha, Xiamen and Hong Kong. Background China is WA s second largest source of international visitor spending. In the year ending March 2016, 46,700 Chinese tourists (an increase of 14.7% compared to the previous year) contributed $239 million (up 11.2%) to the State s economy. Therefore, China will play a significant role in achieving the State s tourism goal of $12 billion spend by 2020. As part of this, we are tracking well to achieve our aim of attracting 100,000 Chinese visitors and spend of $500 million by 2020. Tourism WA is focusing on Experienced Travellers, who are more likely to travel in group tours; the Premium Travel Market and Adventure Seekers, usually younger people with good incomes who are driving the free and independent traveller (FIT) market. While WA is less price competitive compared to the East Coast, feedback from Chinese travel trade and visitors has been very positive about the quality of their experiences in WA, which can be leveraged as a key motivation to attract high-end travellers. Awareness of WA as a new Australian destination option is increasing, but is still relative low. Tourism WA is planning to launch a new campaign in China in 2016-17 which will highlight all the changes that have happened in Perth as well as the extraordinary experiences our Chinese visitors can have across WA. Format WACTM 2016 includes pre-scheduled meetings between Buyers and Sellers, team-building activities and networking functions. Who will attend? 45 travel agencies from China and Hong Kong. These key distribution partners will be selected based on a number of criteria including their product development ability, geographic coverage and business module. Objectives The mission aims to: Increase awareness of destination WA and raise the profile of WA tourism product suppliers Establish and increase business opportunities with new and existing key trade partners Provide an update on the latest travel trends and market situation in China and Hong Kong Further strengthen business relationships with key product and marketing managers in China and Hong Kong Generate media exposure for destination WA and China marketing initiatives Page 2 of 6

All successful applicants will receive further details on payment methods and the mission. Successful WA sellers must agree to the terms and conditions to participate in the mission. Tourism WA reserves the right to determine the final WA product representation at WACTM. Criteria for participation WACTM is an important event for WA tourism industry.
