Append number to fiename - appends a number to the fiename of the converted fie using a format that you can seect. The format must incude the strings "%fiename%" and "%number%", but they may be in any order you ike. You can add extra characters into the string and those characters wi aso appear in the converted fie's fiename. Conversions This diaog contains a options reated to converting fies. Check the sub-option if you don't want to recompress a fie that has a source with a better compression rate Copy Fie Directy to Destination Foder - copies the fie to the destination foder in its origina non-converted form. Do Not Convert - do not convert the fie at a. Notes: The options in "Formats" wi aways be over-ridden by the options specified in the "Overwrite" tab. For exampe, if you specify the "Convert Anyway" option in "Formats", but in "Overwrite" you specify "Don't Convert the Origina Fie", then if the fie exists the conversion wi not go ahead. 11

Deete source fie after conversion - if the conversion of the fie was successfu, then the origina fie wi be deeted. If the conversion faied, the fie wi NOT be deeted. A successfu conversion aso incudes copying of the fie to the destination foder, as seen in the above option "Copy Fie Directy to Destination Foder". Remember settings for reading fies(ony appicabe to formats.raw and.vox) - If you are converting from.raw/.vox fie. This invoves the writing of a string of characters that denote information reated to the.cda fie. An exampe of how to write a string is as foows: [%artist% %abum% %genre%]\{%tracknumber% %trackname% %year%} This wi convert your.cda fies to a foder named "Artist - Abum - Genre", with fiename "Tracknumber. Trackname - Year.fieextension". A the arguments that can be used to form the custom string are as foows: %artist% - the artist name %abum% - the abum name %extratrackinfo% - extra track information (may not exist in a cases) %genre% - the genre of the abum (e.g. rock, jazz) %tracknumber% - the track number (the first track isted on the CD is track number 1) %trackname% - the name of the extracted track %year% - the year the abum was reeased [] - anything inside these brackets wi be treated as a foder {} - anything inside these brackets wi be treated as a fiename Note that you can have mutipe eves of foders set up, but you are ony aowed to have one fiename specified in the string. Same as source For some formats, this is an encoder option when you want the sampe rate and number of channe(s) of output fie to be the same as input source. Pease be carefu when using this option because the specific sampe rate and number of channe(s) on the input may not be avaiabe for the output format. In this case, the convertion may fai or just use a defaut vaid encoding option. 23

Converting M4P fies M4P fie is an Appe itunes purchased song which uses Appes "Fairpay" DRM (Digita Rights Management). Unprotected fies downoaded from itunes have an extension M4A. Screen References - Opus Encoder Options Encode audio into the Opus format. Bitrate Target bitrate in kbit/sec (6-256 per channe) In VBR mode this specifies the average rate for a arge and diverse coection of audio. In CVBR and Hard-CBR mode it specifies the specific output bitrate. Defaut for >=44.1kHz input is 64kbps per mono stream, 96kbps per couped pair. Use defaut bitrate encoding In defaut mode, encoder wi choose bitrate automaticay. For >=44.1kHz input is 64kbps per mono stream, 96kbps per couped pair. Use variabe bitrate encoding In VBR mode the bitrate may go up and down freey depending on the content to achieve more consistent quaity. Use constrained variabe bitrate encoding Outputs to a specific bitrate. This mode is anaogous to CBR in AAC/MP3 encoders and managed mode in vorbis coders. This deivers ess consistent quaity than VBR mode but consistent bitrate. Use hard constant bitrate encoding With hard-cbr every frame wi be exacty the same size, simiar to how speech codecs work. This deivers ower overa quaity but is usefu where bitrate changes might eak data in encrypted channes or on synchronous transports. Down mix(none) Don't down mix, keep the channes same as source. Downmix to mono Force to Downmix to mono. Downmix to stereo Downmix to stereo if input channes > 2. 28

Screen References - Choose Base Foder to Mirror This feature aows you to copy the foder structure (foders and their subfoders) of your "base" foder into another ocation. This is idea for if you want to convert your entire music ibrary, incuding it's foder structure, to a new ocation. Choose base foder to mirror Cick this checkbox if you want the foders that contain the fies you have added to Switch to be copied with the newy converted fies. When you hit the convert button a window wi open asking you to choose your base foder to copy. This foder needs to contain (at some point) a the fies you have added to switch for conversion. For exampe, if you have added a the fies in "C:\MyMusic\artists\abums\" your choices for base foder woud be "MyMusic", "Artists" and "Abums." The new base foder and a its subfoders wi be copied to the output ocation you have specified in the output fied in Switch. So if your output foder has been set to "C:\Documents\Converted Music\" and you specify your base foder as "C:\MyMusic" the converted fies wi be copied to "C:\Documents\Converted Music\MyMusic.." with the foders that contain your music being recreated there. 29

Screen References - Speech Recognition Settings Switch uses a speech recognition engine to generate a rough approximation of the words spoken in an audio fie. Choose a engine and profie from the ist. 30
