16 What does a Pane want to know about you? There are four basic questions : Why have you appied for this job/speciaity? What can you do for us? (what skis, knowedge, inteectua abiity can you offer?) What kind of person are you? (what are your attitudes, vaues, motivation eves? Do you have the abiity to get on with others, work in a team?) What distinguishes you from a the other appications? Being sef-aware very important for answering questions (N.B. There may aso be questions on ethics and about current affairs in medicine and NHS poicies etc)

22 Some usefu interview tactics Stay focused and sow down. Have some structure even if it s retrospective! Give yoursef thinking time In answer to your question asking me about., I woud ike to begin by taking about.. Two second pause: think of the key features before you open your mouth. Seek carification Woud it be hepfu if I provided an exampe of...? A hidden compiment: That s a very interesting question Ask for feedback Is this exampe usefu?
