1. INTRODUCTION This document provides the procedure for downloading the Flight History from an aircraft equipped with a Honeywell Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS). This download procedure is applicable for the following Honeywell EGPWS part numbers: 965-0976-0XX-XXX-XXX (MK V) 965-1676-XXX (Airbus MK V) 965-1690-XXX (Boeing MK V) 965-1076-0XX-XXX-XXX (MK VII) 965-11XX-XXX (MK VI) 965-12XX-XXX (MK VIII) 965-15XX-XXX (MK XXII) To purchase the Flight History Download PCMCIA Card necessary for this procedure, contact: Honeywell Complete Customer Care Center Telephone: (800) 601-3099 (U.S.A.) Telephone: (602) 365-3099 (International) Fax: 602-365-3343 E-mail: orders@honeywell.com For MK V and MK VII EGPWS request Flight History Download Card P/N 718-1592-001. For MK VI and MK VIII and MK XXII EGPWS request Flight History Download Card P/N 718-1593-002. Flight History Download cards have a special Honeywell programmed format that is required to initiate the download sequence and record the data. The Fight History Download cards (P/N 718-1592-001 and 718-1593-002) are not interchangeable. 2. DOWNLOAD PROCEDURE. 1.For the MK VI, MK VIII, or MK XXII, access and connect SmartCable P/N 951-0386-001 or -002 (see Figure 1) to Test Connector J3 on the EGPWS front panel. For the MK V or MK VII, access and open the front panel door (see Figure 2) on the EGPWS. 2. Apply power to the EGPWS. 3. Verify that the green COMPUTER OK LED is ON. If the red COMPUTER FAIL LED is ON, the integrity of the downloaded data cannot be assured. If the yellow EXTERNAL FAULT LED is ON, this will not interfere with the download process. 4. On the MK V/VII EGPWS front panel (see Figure 2), verify: IN PROG LED is extinguished. CARD CHNG LED is extinguished. XFER COMP LED is extinguished. XFER FAIL LED is extinguished. On the EGPWS SmartCable (see Figure 1), verify: POWER ON LED is illuminated ASF-2121/R2 CAGE CODE: 97896 SCALE: NONE SIZE: A DWG NO. 060-4199-115 REV D SHEET 4
If power was applied to the EGPWS at the time the SmartCable was connected, all LEDs may illuminate until the data transfer begins. 5. For card PN 718-1592-001 ONLY, verify that the PCMCIA Card has its Write Protect selector in the OFF position (see Figure 3). The PCMCIA Card Write Protect selector is fragile and should be moved only with the minimum amount of force. 6. Insert the Flight History Download card into the PCMCIA card slot. For the MK V or MK VII, ensure the L-shaped notch on the bottom of the PCMCIA card is in the down position and the U-shaped notch on the top of the PCMCIA card is the up position (See Figure 2). Push the card in carefully until the PUSH TO EJECT button on the front Panel is fully extended. This will be when the card is fully inserted, and the face of the PUSH TO EJECT button is nearly level with the rear of the inserted PCMCIA card. For the MK VI or MK VIII or MK XXII, the label on the card and on the Smart Cable should both be oriented in the same direction. The PCMCIA card will only insert about half the card length. CAUTION: Excessive force will damage the internal connector. 7. While loading is in progress, the amber IN PROG LED illuminates and the green COMPUTER OK LED turns OFF. 8. When loading is complete, the amber IN PROG LED will turn OFF and the green XFER COMP LED will turn ON. This operation should require no more than 10 minutes. If the red XFER FAIL LED turns ON instead of the green XFER COMP LED, verify proper position of the Write Protect switch (PN 718-1592-001 only, see Figure 3). If this checks OK, it may be necessary to obtain a different Flight History Download PCMCIA card from Honeywell for the data download. 9. Remove the PCMCIA Card. For the MK V or MK VII, depress the PUSH TO EJECT button on the EGPWS front panel. For the MK VI or MK VIII or MK XXII, carefully grasp the card and pull it out of the SmartCable. The EGPWS should automatically return to its normal operating mode within 1 minute of removal of the card. 10. Verify that the green COMPUTER OK LED illuminates (allow up to 3 minutes for this step). 11. Procedure is complete. Close the EGPWS front panel door or disconnect the SmartCable as appropriate. Flight History Download Cards can only be used once. After inserting them into an EGPWS, do not insert them into another EGPWS or the data stored may become unreadable. 3. DECODING OF FLIGHT HISTORY DATA For decoding of Flight History data, complete the request form on Sheet 6) and fax/email it to: Honeywell Technical Operations Phone 800-601-3099 (Toll Free) or 602-365-3099 (Direct), select Option 5 then 3 Fax: 602-365-1871 Email: aerotechsupport@honeywell.com Technical operations will make arrangement to receive the card or accept the data contents via email.
