Mac - Juniper Remote Desktop Instructions How to Set up & Remotely Connect to your Hospital Windows Workstation from your Remote Macintosh Computer Using the JSAM Feature of Juniper. Note: These instructions are only intended for use after this has been approved and request completed. Set up: Please do not skip any steps. 1. In Safari download Microsoft's Remote Desktop client by browsing to this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=18140 2. Click Download 3. Find your download in your MAC's download folder and double click on it to install it. It should look like this: 4. Then click YES to allow if asked. 5. You must download and install the latest version of Java from this link: [http://java.com/en/ http://java.com/en/*] And Click Free Java Download. 6. Then click Agree and Start Free Download
7. Then locate the downloaded file jre-7u10-macosx-x64.dmg in your download folder. ( Note: jre-7u10 is a prefix of a version number, it may be slightly different*)* It should look like this in your download folder: 8. Then double click it to install and complete the Java installation, click YES to allow if asked. 9. Due to new apple security you must perform these extra steps now; On your MAC in Safari browse to http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp 10. Activate it by clicking directly on Missing Plug-in 11. Then click Run to the agreement popup: 12. You should then see this screen indicating java is working:
13. At this point you it is very important that you Close Safari and Restart your MAC by doing the following: Then click Restart: 14. Then Log back into your MAC and Please continue with steps A through X to complete setup. A. 1. Browse to https://vip.mountsinai.org in safari. (Make it a bookmark) 2. Enter your hospital network user ID. 3. Enter your Password. 4. Click Sign In.
B. 1. Enter your temporary security code from the body of the email 2. Then Click Sign In C. You must now Configure the Java Secure Application Manager: Click the Button to the right of the Start button which highlighted in green:
D. You will enter the Client Applications section: Click the Add Application button: E. Then you must fill out the following: 1. Type in a Name (Example: My Work PC ) 2. Type or copy/paste in your hostname in the remote server field. Your hostname will be the address of your work computer; your hostname will be included in the email sent to you. 3. Enter in a Client Port: 3389
4. Enter in Server Port: 3389 5. Then click the Save Changes button. F. Then Click on the Home icon located at the top of the window: G. Then in the Java Secure Application Manager Section: Click the Start button:
H. This will open up the secure application manager. * Don t close it as long as you plan to stay connected. It looks like this: Note: This window needs to remain open until you complete your session and whenever you are connected in the future* I. You will be prompted for your Mac s user name and password, enter them and click ok. (This is your Mac s password only.) J. Important step. Juniper may prompt you to download from their server. (If not proceed to step K.) ALLOW it by clicking yes and ALLOW download from juniper by clicking yes or allow. If always allow is an option, you should check it off. K. Go to your applications folder and Double Click to open the Remote Desktop Connection application. It looks like:
L. Open a new connection in the file menu by clicking New connection: M. 1. Enter or paste your hostname. This should be the address of your work computer, it will be included in the email sent to you. 2. Click Connect N. This screen will popup. Type in your hospital user ID and password (leave Domain blank) and click OK: O. Click on the File menu up top and then click Save:
P. Once again then click Connect on the RDC client: Q. *A new window should then open, Use your Hospital network logon and password. Put domain first then backslash then your user id like in the picture (except use your ID) You will then see your hospital desktop. R. You are not done yet, You must then choose your VIP client. Proceed to next step S. You MUST choose a VIP client from one of the three options to be able to continue to login remotely. Click your desired link on your MAC and open in Safari Your 3 choices are: 1. Mobile (Preferred for the most mobility) can be installed on your mobile device and offers greater flexibility than desktop. https://vipmobile.verisign.com/enterandroidmobilephonenumber.v 2. Desktop must be installed on your personal MAC. You will have to install it from your downloads folder and then run it from your applications folder. https://idprotect.vip.symantec.com/desktop/download.v 3. FOB is a keychain hardware device that displays your token. It may be picked up on the MC level in IT from data-security or in the library from the academic help desk. T. Once you have installed the VIP client on your MAC or your mobile device. It will look like this:
( Note: the security code is a revolving changing number to provide greater security that you will use from now on.) U. Once you have Chosen your style of VIP, you must register it. This must be done while you are on campus or during this setup and logged into your work desktop remotely. Open Internet Explorer on your work computer and browse to https://register4vip.mountsinai.org V. Enter in your hospital user name and password: W. 1. Enter in credential name, this is a description of your device. (Example: if you installed on your Iphone you may call it Iphone or on your MAC desktop you may call it MAC laptop. It is up to you, but needs a name.) 2. You must enter in your credential ID from your VIP Client, beginning with AVTxxxxxxx or VSMxxxxxxx 3. Then enter the current security code from your VIP client. 4. And click Submit
X. You have completed the setup. Yes!! The VIP client ensures greater security and protection, while juniper provides a fast vpn connection depending on your home bandwidth. Your setup should be complete, at this point you can begin to work. The next set of steps are everyday login steps for after you have completed the setup above. 1. Browse to: in Safari https://vip.mountsinai.org 2. Enter your network user ID.
3. Enter your Password. 4. Click Sign In. 1. Then Enter the Security Code from your VIP Your Security code will be found here on your client, in the example it is circled in purple: 2. Click Sign In 3. Then in the Java Secure Application Manager Section: Click the Start button only:
4. This will open up the secure application manager. *NOTE: Don t close it. This window needs to remain open until you complete your session and whenever you are connected in the future* 5. You will be prompted for your Mac s user name and password, enter them and click ok. (This is your Mac s password only.) 6. Go to your applications folder and Double Click to open the Remote Desktop Connection application.
Click Connect. The address you entered in during setup should be there by default. 7. A new window should open and where you will be prompted to logon to your office workstation. Use your Hospital network logon and password. The same as you did during setup. Remember to logoff of Juniper when you are finished with your remote session by clicking on the Sign Out (door icon) button.
