HP OfficeJet Pro 276DW Scan to Network Folder and Digital Fax to Network Folder not working after firmware upgrade Introduction Starting with the firmware version 1517AR update, the network authentication protocols for the HP OfficeJet Pro 276DW printers now use NTLMv2 and Kerberos. This firmware update is also available for printers with older firmware versions, which are using NTLMv1. During the firmware update, all printer settings will be kept, except for the Scan to Network Folder and Digital Fax to Network Folder passwords. The change in the network authentication protocols requires an encrypted password for accessing network folders, which is why the firmware cannot automatically restore the password for the NTLMv2 and Kerberos authentication protocols. As a result, older units that are updated to 1517A (or newer) will get the following error message at the printer control panel when performing Scan to Network Folder or Digital Fax to Network Folder. Figure 1: Scan to Network Folder error message Step one: Access the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) 1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Network button to display the IP address or host name. 2. Open a Web browser, and in the address line, type the IP address or host name as it displays on the printer control panel. Touch the Enter key on the computer keyboard. The EWS opens.

Choosing Continue to this website (not recommended) will not harm the computer while navigating within the EWS for the HP printer. If this error occurs outside of the HP printer s EWS, the computer could be at risk.
