Information sheet, EMEA 3, Asian universities Name of university: Mahidol University Profile of the university (max. 15 lines): Our history dates back over 120 years to the founding of the medical school at Thailand s first hospital - Siriraj Hospital. With great honor, the university was renamed Mahidol University in 1969 by H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej in memory of his father, H.R.H Prince Mahidol of Songkla, who is regarded the Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health in Thailand. Since that time, Mahidol University has continued to grow and diversify into a comprehensive research university. It is today offering expertise in science, medicine, veterinary science, engineering, arts and humanities, social science, business, music, languages and culture. It is now one of the region s top universities, internationally renowned for the high caliber of its teaching, research, and healthcare. In addition, a wide range of modern sport facilities for both indoor and outdoor activities are available for use in both competitive sports and physical exercise.
