Whole-Home DVR Installation Considerations Cable Type RG-6 coaxial cable, rated to at least 3 GHz, must be used for all DISH pro extreme (DpX) paths carrying satellite signal between s and lnbfs (including wiring from the host ports on Nodes to s). RG- 59 coax may be used for Home Video Network (HVN) connections between MoCa-only devices such as s, Connectors and the client ports on Nodes. Separate cable feeds are required for either Cable broadband Service or an over-the-air (OTa) antenna feed. you cannot diplex either of these signals. FReQUeNCy bands USeD The satellite path must pass 950 MHz to 3 GHz. The MoCa operating range for HVN signals is 650 MHz to 875 MHz. Cable length Maximum run is 200 feet between any and lnbf (RG-6 only) and between any two MoCa-enabled devices (RG-6 or RG-59). This maximum run may be reduced if other installation considerations are not met. USe OF SplITTeRS and OTHeR INlINe DeVICeS Maximum of 2 MoCa accessories (such as splitters, taps, isolators, or the HIC pass-through) on the same HVN. any unused ports on nodes or splitters must be terminated with a 75-ohm terminator. all splitters and terminators must be rated to at least 1 GHz. Do not use diplexers in any / installation. WHOle-HOMe best practices Installation practices that will produce the best results for a whole-home DVR system include: Note that the whole-home installation process and Receiver Setup Wizard software differs significantly from the process and wizard software for older receivers and equipment. Follow the instructions for /. Following the on-screen instructions in the Receiver Setup Wizard and allowing each step of the wizard to be completed successfully before proceeding with the next step Minimizing the number of devices on a cable run avoiding any open ports left on nodes, splitters or the Connector pass-through port Inspecting any existing coaxial cables and connectors to ensure they pass the supported frequency bands 1

Whole-Home DVR Troubleshooting Tips Follow the instructions in the Whole-Home HD DVR System launch bulletin (p/n 196398) to perform the installation process. First, install, and after all software downloads and authorization is complete, then install (s). Conclude the whole-home system installation by following the instructions to perform the final setup process. The installation process and Receiver Setup Wizard software for a whole-home DVR system differ significantly from the process and wizard software used to install older receivers (such as the Vip-series) and associated equipment. This is because the relationship between linked / host is one of client/server; the tunerless thin client () must receive its authorization, production software and operating instructions via the HVN connection from the host (). Follow the on-screen instructions in the Receiver Setup Wizard. be patient and allow each step of the wizard to be completed successfully before proceeding with the next step. Some steps include a receiver reboot. Observe any pop-up message screens displayed. Certain equipment designed for helping troubleshoot existing installations of Dpp equipment (such as a Super buddy and SaT buddy) cannot be used to troubleshoot the triple-stacked DpX equipment (such as Solo and Duo Nodes) used in whole-home system installations. 20
