Each partner has a clear role in the DBGlobe project, according to the Project Management Structure determined in Technical Annex I. There are four types of roles during the Project operation: The Project Manager, responsible for the whole project operation and communication with external bodies The Technical Manager, responsible for streamlining the project s technical objectives to a clear technology outcome The Workpackage Leaders, responsible for each WP operation and completion The Technical Contributors at task level according to the higher project management guidelines. The University of Ioannina has undertaken the Project and Technical Management, and therefore it is responsible for representing the project and the consortium, report to the Commission, monitoring overall project and consortium performance, administrating project resources, promoting project visibility, promoting dissemination of project results in the relevant international forums and promoting acceptance of project results in respective markets. In the DBGlobe Project, the workplan is structured in 6 workpackages. Each workpackage may have the contribution of more than one partner, but it can have only one leader, responsible for its operation and completion. For each workpackage this leader is: WP1: Computer Technology Institute WP2: Research Center of the Athens University of Economics and Business WP3: The University of Ioannina WP4: Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique WP5: University of Cyprus WP6: The University of Ioannina The Technical Contributors in this project are the six partners, since each one of them contributes to more than one workpackage. They can be active on a stable basis into a workpackage, or occasionally contribute on specific tasks related to the workplan. The above four roles are meeting their objectives under the following Project Bodies: The DBGlobe Project Co-ordination Board (PCB), responsible for the coordination, control and management of the project The DBGlobe Project Technical Committee (PTC), responsible for resolving and monitoring the project progress The Workpackage Teams (WPT), carrying out the work in each workpackage of the workplan. The following figure clarifies the relations between the above groups and roles. 2

The PCB is chaired by the Project Manager, therefore by the University of Ioannina, and is constituted by one representative from each Partner. It is the main decision body of the Consortium, in charge of all formal decisions, regarding technical direction of the work, relations with the IST Office, policies for promotion of results, and administrative arrangements. Project Technical Committee (PTC). The PTC is chaired by the Technical Manager, therefore by the University of Ioannina and constituted by the workpackage Leaders, therefore by the Institut National de Recherché en Informatique et en Automatique, the Computer Technology Institute, the Research Center of the Athens University of Economics and Business, and the University of Cyprus. Its main task is to ensure proper interrelation among workpackages, enforce and guide the execution of the technical plan and report to the PCB. Workpackage Teams (WPT). WPT are constituted by technical contributors. Each WPT is in charge of carrying out the technical work as described in the workplan and for each workpackage the WPT are: WPT1: UOI 1, INRIA 2, CTI 3, UCR 4 WPT2: UOI, CTI, RC-AUEB 5, UCY 6, UCR WPT3: UOI, INRIA, CTI, RC-AUEB, UCY, UCR WPT4: UOI, INRIA, CTI, RC-AUEB, UCY WPT5: UOI, INRIA, CTI, RC-AUEB, UCY, UCR WPT6: UOI Each workpackage team is chaired by the leader of the corresponding workpackage and for each team the leader is: 1 UOI - University of Ioannina 2 INRIA - Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique 3 CTI - Computer Technology Institute 4 UCR - The Regents of the University of California 5 RC-AUEB - Research Center of Athens University of Economics and Business 6 UCY University of Cyprus 3
