Curriculum Vitae Faheem Position Applied for: Sales Agent Sector: BPO & COntact-Centres

Candidate s Story (& life outside of work) Faheem, 32, is a Sales Agent, based in Cape Town, who has extensive Sales experience in the Financial Services, Retail and BPO industries. Faheem started out in his career working part-time at a promotional company, while completing his studies at the College Of Cape Town so, it seems that sales of one sort or another caught him early in his career! After completing his studies, he started full-time work at Bharoochi Key Motor Spares, a supplier of car parts in the Motor industry. Here he was responsible for the sale of car parts, customer service and stock control. As much as he enjoyed working at this small family company and being in the Motor sector, after 5 years there he wanted more career growth than was available, so he moved to his first Telesales job in the BPO & Contact-Centre industry. He recognised that the BPO & Contact-Centre sector offered strong career opportunities, while still doing the work he loved namely, sales. In his new role, at Sell Direct Marketing (a local BPO), he worked as Sales Agent cold calling retail customers to sell them cell phone contracts. In what is known as a tough BPO sales environment to start out in, he consistently met his monthly target of 20 sales per month. After 12-months at Sell Direct Marketing, Faheem had the opportunity to move into a sales role in the Financial Services sector, at Metropolitan Life. Here, he was a Telesales Agent making affinity and cold calls to clients to sell funeral and accident cover products. Here his monthly sales target was 27 per month, whereas he consistently exceeded this with an average of 35 sales per month! After Metropolitan Life closed it s Cape Town operation, to relocate it to Gauteng, he moved to RCS. At RCS, he continued building his experience and expertise as a Telesales Agent making affinity and cold calls to customers selling personal loans. As before, he consistently exceeded his monthly sales target: 15 per month target versus an actual average of 25-35 sales per month. At RCS, he felt that he really managed to hone his sales skills. Before starting there, while his overall sales numbers were good, but his QA scores weren t quite so consistent. At RCS, his QA scores went from 23% to consistently being at 95%. As a result, he won a number of company QA score awards!

Candidate s Story (& life outside of work) continued... Faheem believes that sales involves a lot of skills and learning, but fundamentally- you have to know how to speak well to people: it s not just what you say, but how you say it and how you bring yourself across in the conversation. This is a strength he brings to his sales calls. As a person, Faheem describes himself as a fun person to be around, one who loves watching rugby at the weekend (especially the Crusaders), playing sport or braaing with friends. As a professional, he describes himself as easy to get along with and be managed, friendly and helpful to his colleagues, loyal and very punctual. Apart from being a team player in the office, he loves meeting new people everyday, including those that he meets via the phone when doing telesales calls. He feels that he learns something from every person that he interacts with. As part of his CPD, he reads a lot of sales-related literature and he avidly watches the BBC s Dragon Den, because he loves learning how different people pitch different products and the feedback of the Dragons on what could have been pitched better. Faheem resigned from RCS to start his own business, one in buying and selling car parts. This had always been a dream of his and he wanted to give it a go and have the experience. After a challenging year with lots of lessons learnt, he s keen to return to the corporate world and get back on track developing his Telesales career there.
