Certificate 3 Guarantee Certificate 3 Guarantee is a Queensland Government initiative that provides a training subsidy to eligible students and pays for the course fees of the student. The only cost to the student is a student contribution fee*. You will receive subsidised training for one certificate level III qualification of your choice to help increase your employment opportunities. You can also choose the training provider you would like to train with, provided the training provider is approved to deliver courses that qualify for funding under Certificate 3 Guarantee. Study Group is an approved provider by the Queensland State Government. If you need to develop skills before undertaking a certificate III course, you may be eligible to undertake study in language, literacy and numeracy programs as well as certificate I and II qualifications that lead to the certificate III. Who is eligible? To be eligible to receive subsidised training under Certificate 3 Guarantee students must: be 15 years of age or older have finished secondary school or are no longer at school be an Australian or New Zealand citizen permanently living in Queensland not hold a certificate 3 or higher qualification from 1 July 2013. This includes any equivalent certificate 3 or higher level qualification irrespective of whether the qualification was completed as part of a university degree, apprenticeship or traineeship. However, a certificate level 3 qualification completed while at secondary school does not exclude you from accessing the Certificate 3 Guarantee.

Employment status does not matter. Recipients of the Certificate 3 Guarantee can be unemployed and seeking work, or be working on a full-time, part-time, self-employed or casual basis. Is the Certificate 3 Guarantee available for apprenticeship and traineeship training? No, the Certificate 3 Guarantee is not available for apprenticeships or traineeships. Do holders of a concession card receive the same subsidy under the Certificate 3 Guarantee? The amount provided by the Certificate 3 Guarantee will vary depending on the course chosen and your needs. Training courses with North Queensland Training Services Pty Ltd have a number of delivery options available to suit the student s needs. Full time face to face classroom training Online seminars and discussion boards External Studies Blended learning What are the prerequisites? Prerequisites are specific to individual courses. Please consult the course outline for your chosen course for prerequisite information. How do I enrol? Enrolment is initiated by you contacting North Queensland Training Services either by phone, email or website enquiry. North Queensland Training Services will despatch to you by nominated means enrolment form and literature on the course(s) being considered and any other relevant documentation. FEES North Queensland Training Services Pty Ltd predominately operates as a fee for service training business. This means all training programs attract fees. All fees will be paid at or prior to the commencement of training unless prior arrangements are made with North Queensland Training Services Pty Ltd management for a payment plan. Where less than $1,500 is collected prior to the commencement of training or where the total course fee is less than $1,500, a fee protection process is not required. These fees are paid by the student, a government agency or the student s employer.

Connecting Training and Assessment with the Workplace To maximise the outcomes for students, North Queensland Training Services Pty Ltd will ensure every opportunity to connect training and assessment with the workplace is utilised. Opportunities will be developed in consultation with the relevant workplace personnel and responsibilities clearly communicated to all involved. To identify a range of delivery and assessment method s that meet a variety of needs, an ongoing schedule of industry liaison and consultation will be adhered to. These consultations will be documented with meetings and memorandums acknowledged by those industry and enterprise representatives involved in consultation relative to the development of assessment strategies. Student s enrolled in a traineeship program will normally be working for an employer within the industry. In some circumstances employers may offer a contribution towards the cost of training and assessment, which is encouraged by North Queensland Training Services Pty Ltd. North Queensland Training Services will: Involve workplace personnel in planning workplace programs, where they are relevant to the training and assessment program Ensure that the training and assessment program makes full use of opportunities at the workplace Monitor each student s progress and the support provided to them by workplace personnel Consult with workplace personnel in the development of workplace training and assessment processes Inform workplace personnel of their training and assessment roles and responsibilities, and accept these responsibilities, where relevant to the training and assessment program Monitor support provided to each student by workplace personnel Monitor the student s progress Student support Student support policy North Queensland Training Services will make all reasonable effort and utilise a variety of available methods to assist all students in their efforts to complete training programs. North Queensland Training Services will determine the support needs of individual students and provides access to the educational and support services necessary for the individual student to meet the requirements of the AQF qualification, skill set or VET course as specified in training packages or VET accredited courses. North Queensland Training Services Pty Ltd will continue to develop strategies to make support available where the staff or student identify gaps.

Trainers are responsible for ensuring that all students are aware thy can contact their trainer or other North Queensland Training Services Pty Ltd staff members in the event that they are experiencing difficulties with any aspect of their studies. Our Staff will ensure students have access to the full resources to assist them in achieving the required level of competency in all nationally recognised qualifications. In the event that a student is experiencing personal difficulties, training staff will encourage the student to contact North Queensland Training Services who will provide discreet, personalised and confidential assistance as according to the nature of the difficulties. In the event that a student s needs exceed the capacity of the support services North Queensland Training Services Pty Ltd can offer, they will be referred to an appropriate external agency.
