The Historic Houses Trust is one of the agencies that is located within the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH), reporting to the Minister for Heritage. The OEH regulates industry, protects and conserves the NSW environment, manages over 850 national parks and reserves and protects the natural, cultural and built heritage in NSW. SLM cares for significant historic places, buildings, collections and landscapes with integrity, and enables people to enjoy and learn about them. SLM was established under the Historic Houses Act 1980 to manage, conserve and interpret the properties vested in it for the education and enjoyment of the public. SLM s portfolio includes houses, museums, landscapes, a library and collections of paintings, furniture and objects. SLM is managed through four groups Heritage, Creative Services, Commercial Services & Marketing and Operations. The Creative Services Group includes four teams: Collections & Access, Interpretation & Exhibitions, Programs, Web & Screen Media teams. The activities of the group are related to outreach and learning, which includes interpretation, education, access, audience development, participation, volunteering, knowledge management and community engagement, as well as creating exhibitions, design, web and social media content, and developing and managing public programs. The Collections & Access Team is responsible for providing broad public and staff access to knowledge and research about SLM s collections and sites through the development and management of a suite of online discovery tools and through the provision of a range of high-level information services to staff and public through the development of a specialist library and research collection. The Team leads the development of the SLM research agenda and manages the a suite of systems and processes to ensure that data about SLM collections, and the documentation processes related to collection acquisition/deaccession, meet internal and external audit requirements as well as international metadata standards for collection description. 1

Primary purpose of the role This role manages the development of the agency s Digital Asset Management system (DAM), ensuring that it meets the agency s business needs for rights management and copyright; creation and storage of archival assets for resource discovery and information retrieval; loan assets for use in publications and exhibitions; corporate assets for marketing, merchandising, education and public programs uses. Key accountabilities Provide ongoing training and awareness of DAM to agency staff in data entry procedures, data standards and database use. Monitor the implementation of protocols for the creation, acquisition and/or archiving (progress) of digital assets for all the agency s business needs. Maintain the functionality and integrity of the agency s DAM and manage upgrades, database development, software malfunctions/bugs and annual licence and maintenance contracts. Liaise with software vendor to deliver/implement agreed database developments. Provide training to staff in date entry procedures, data standards and database use. Monitor the implementation of protocols for the creation or acquisition of digital assets for all of the agency s business needs. Monitor and review currency of specifications for commissioned photography. Direct reports The following roles report directly to the Curator Collections Access: Collections Officer, Digital Assets Collections Assistant, Digital Assets Budget/Expenditure Nil Essential requirements Qualifications in photography or photomedia and knowledge of digital camera systems, digital image file formats and the use of photographic software applications such as Adobe Photoshop. Experience with digital capture technologies, colour managed workflows and relevant software in a PC or Mac environment and the creation of archival and derivative images for a wide range of uses. Knowledge of archival and image management systems and metadata standards for digital assets. Experience in project coordination and documentation. Demonstrated ability to maintain attention to detail in a production environment. Possess and maintain current and relevant professional knowledge.
