PROFESSORIAL STAFF ACADEMIC STUDIES (Music) (Permanent, part-time up to 0.5 FTE) JOB DETAILS - CONTENTS Page 2 Page 3 Page 6 Page 7 Page 8 Advertisement Job Description Person Specification Conditions of Service Summary Information on Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance

PROFESSORIAL STAFF ACADEMIC STUDIES (Music) Contract: Permanent, part-time (up to 0.5 FTE) Salary: 34,852-40,904 p.a. pro-rata (Including LWA) Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is a forward thinking, contemporary and worldclass Higher Education Institution with a vision to redefine the conservatoire for the 21 st century. At the leading edge of music and dance training, it provides specialist education of the highest quality, which reflects the increasingly collaborative world of artistic practice. The Faculty of Music accounts for over 600 of the higher education (HE) students within Trinity Laban and delivers programmes of study for students from pre-degree to doctoral levels through an innovative combination of practical and academic studies through which it seeks to impart in its students the skills needed for a dynamic and sustainable career in the music profession. Integral to the Faculty of Music are the learning opportunities provided by the Academic Studies Department, who deliver core academic and vocational learning across all programmes of study within the Faculty. The team of Academic Studies teaching staff many of whom also contribute to instrumental/vocal/composition teaching within the Faculty each exemplify the multi-faceted skillset of modern musicians and thus provide important exemplars for students. The Faculty of Music seeks to appoint a suitably qualified candidate to a 0.5 FTE, permanent teaching position with effect from 1 September 2015. The successful candidate may have expertise in the fields of historical musicology, music theory, applied musicianship &/or music business (music leadership; audience development; mentoring & developing musicians). They will be expected to contribute to the development and delivery of curriculum, in particular teaching music history/context and/or applied musicianship and/or music entrepreneurship at undergraduate level, in addition contributing to teaching and the development of new curricula at postgraduate level and enhancing the Faculty s developing research culture. Consideration will be given to suitable individuals who apply to teach one or more of the specified areas (in exceptional cases the Faculty will consider offering a larger fraction to a candidate able to contribute to teaching in more than one of the listed fields). Applications from early career researchers seeking their first formal teaching position are also strongly encouraged. Following success in the Institution s first formal research submission (REF 2014) with established research strengths in composition and music technology, musicology, music psychology, and the performance of music (particularly contemporary music) our strategic priority are the development of a practice-led research hub with specialisms in creative practice/performance, performance science and performance pedagogy as well as text-based research in our disciplines; the further integration of our research and knowledge exchange/public engagement programmes; and increasing our research collaborations, seeking particularly to engage international partners. The Faculty of Music is committed to encouraging researchinformed teaching; you will be encouraged to develop your skills in line with this ethos. Educated to at least Masters degree-level, you will have proven higher music education teaching experience, strong or emerging research interests, outstanding communication and organisational abilities, excellent IT skills and the capability to deal with a busy and varied workload, within a highly creative environment. For a job pack and application form, please visit our website, or contact Pamela Thompson, HR Advisor on 020 8305 4374 or by email at staffrecruitment@trinitylaban.ac.uk. CVs will not be accepted unless accompanied by a completed application form. Closing date: 12 noon, Thursday 25 June 2015 (no agencies) Interviews: Monday 6 and/or Tuesday 7 July 2015 Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is committed to equal opportunities and diversity. 2
