Introduction This will describe the activities required to train MCD employees, other TxDOT employees, and the motor carrier industry on the use of the TxPROS system. Deliverable This document is the deliverable for item 1.4.7 of the TxPROS Statement of Work named the which addresses the activities and associated responsibilities required for Phases 3 and 5 to produce the materials and conduct the appropriate to satisfy the requirements as identified in the RFO, RFO response and Project Approach Document (1.1.1). Overview This document describes the activities necessary to train users on the TxPROS system. It will identify which groups to train, types of, and the activities required to perform this. Following the descriptions for each of these sessions will be a table listing their activities. Separate documents, The Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and WBS dictionary will define these activities, detail who will need to perform the listed activities, and list estimated work effort times for the activities, any dependencies identified, and the deliverable reference number from the Statement of Work that the activities help to fulfill. 4

Types of Training The following types of will be necessary for the TxPROS system: Routing Permitting Administration Restriction Management Reporting Level 1 Help Desk Route Tuning Advanced Restrictions Historical Routing IT Routing The routing will cover the use of the TxPROS system for routing. This will include how to enter locations and how to modify the routes using via points, highway names, drag route, or other means. 5

Permitting This will cover the use of the permitting system for daily permit office use. This will include, but not be limited to the following: Issuing and processing permitting Interfacing with routing Dashboard use and configuration Searching and Reports Route inspections/super load functionality WASHTO permits Administration This will cover the use of the administrative functionality within the TxPROS permitting system. This will include, but not be limited to the following: Creating users and assigning permissions Creating and modifying permit types Creating and modifying queues Other system maintenance tables Finance includes processing, reconciling, and reporting Cash office includes searching for permits, recording payments, and closing out shifts Permit office reporting Envelopes includes queue and user envelopes Restriction Management Restriction Management will cover the use of the Restriction Manager and basic on how routing works around Restrictions. This will be designed for the District user and the MCD user that makes occasional changes in Restrictions. GIS Reporting Reporting will cover the use of the GIS reporting interface. This will include what types of ad-hoc reports are available, what types of canned reports are available, and how to produce these reports. 6

Level 1 Help Desk Level 1 Help Desk will cover how to support motor carrier users that call in for help. Route Tuning Training for the Route Tuning program will cover the use of the Route Tuning program and general guidelines for routing. This will include suggested road weightings and a description of the potential side affects possible with changes in these weightings. This will also describe how to tune roads individually. Advanced Restrictions Advanced Restrictions will cover additional subjects on Restrictions and the use of the Restriction Manager. This will have a heavy emphasis on the impact Restrictions have on routing and how routing around multiple Restrictions impacts routing. This will be designed for MCD map coordinators and other MCD users who work with Restrictions regularly. Historical Routing Historical Routing will cover routing using the historical routing program. IT IT will address the IT aspects of the TxPROS system including installation, components of the system, identifying and troubleshooting problems, system configuration, security, and networking aspects. This will also include interactions with external TxDOT and other agency systems including identification and troubleshooting of problems. 7
