Discovery Tool for COMbricks
Introduction The Discovery Tool for COMbricks makes it easy to: Find all available Head Stations in your entire network (also other IP ranges!) Identify the correct COMbricks set if you have more than 1 See the name, IP / MAC address and more characteristics of your COMbricks in one overview Change the name or IP address of a COMbricks Head Station Start the web interfaces for all found Head Stations The above functionality will be explained in the following slides. 2
Getting started To show the Network interfaces and corresponding IP information of your local client (e.g. PC, laptop), select Help Local lip information. i Itshows you the active network interfaces. PLEASE NOTE: If you enable other network interfaces while the Discovery Tool is running, you need to restart the tool. Itdoes not update automatically. 3

Searching for COMbricks Head Stations Start searching for COMbricks by clicking on the binoculars, or press F5. Progress bar The tool finds all COMbricks in all IP ranges. Notice the different IP range here. 5
Identifying the correct COMbricks set Serial number, software and hardware version Is the DHCP protocol enabled? Station type is displayed here Station name is displayed here. This works if you have firmware 1.266 or higher. MAC and IP address, and the set IP Netmask How long is the COMbricks set up and running? 6
Flashing the LEDs on the Head Station Clicking this icon (or pressing F4) will flash all LEDs on the selected Head Station for 3 to 4 seconds, to verify that you have selected the correct Head Station. 7
Opening the web page of the Head Station Clicking this icon (or pressing F3) will open the web page of the selected Head Station. 8
Changing the name of the Head Station Clicking this icon (or pressing F11) enables you to change the device name. Enter the new name for the Head Station. If the Head Station is protected with an Admin password, enter it here. Then cc click OK. 9
Changing the IP settings of the Head Station Clicking this icon (or pressing F10) enables you to change the IP settings of the Head Station. Enter the new IP address, Network Mask and Gateway address for the Head Station. You can also click Find free IP to choose an available free IP address. If you wish to assign the IP settings automatically by the DHCP server in your network, check this box. If the Head Station is protected t with an Admin password, enter it here. Then click OK. 10
