Installation Instructions Windows USB driver for Installation If a Diagnostic Interface with USB is connected to a PC with a Windows operating system 98, ME, XP or Vista for the first time, it is necessary to install the driver software for this device. This procedure does not need to be repeated the next time the Diagnostic Interface is connected. The cable (included in delivery) is used to connect the Diagnostic Interface to the USB port of the PC and then to the vehicle (switch on ignition!). The Windows operating systems detects the Diagnostic Interface automatically and requests the software for the new hardware component. Should the workstation have more than one USB port, the installation routine must be repeated for each port. When downloading from the Internet, this is: "C:\Wabco\download\wdi_usb_driver_240" (as shown in the figure) or, if the Diagnostic Software was obtained on a flash drive, the main directory of this drive (the drive letter of the flash drive) - "E:" for example. - Click on Next. Windows USB driver for Installation Instructions Different Diagnostic Interface / other USB port When a different USB port is used for the first time, or a Diagnostic Interface with a different serial number is connected to a PC, Windows will want to install a driver for this device as well. The driver has already been installed in this case and you only need to tell the operating system that it should use this driver. - Check the first radio button Install the software automatically (Recommended). - Click Next. Windows USB driver for Installation Instructions Troubleshooting - Check whether a correct USB connection has been established between the Diagnostic Interface and the PC, as well as the vehicle. - Switch on the ignition of the vehicle to be diagnosed. Advanced: In the event that the USB interface is represented differently in the Windows Control Panel, e.g. an exclamation mark (!) is displayed next to the device, or it is listed as an Unknown Device, reinstall it: - Right-click on the entry Diagnostic Interface. - Click Uninstall. - Exit the Control Panel after the device has been uninstalled. - Attempt to open the New Hardware Wizard by disconnecting and reconnecting the USB connector to the interface. - Repeat the installation (see page 1). First ensure that the ignition is switched on and that the interface is supplied with power.
