TUDENT AWARD AND HOLARHIP Many awards and scholarships are available for medical students. This document focuses on those awards and scholarships that are reviewed and managed through the University of Illinois ollege of Medicine. Information is subject to change to reflect the deliberations of the ommittee on tudent s and cholarships, availability of funding, and other factors. Many of the awards and scholarships particularly those described as endowed awards - involve significant amounts of money. Mandatory federal and university guidelines govern the distribution of funds. In most cases, a scholarship must be deposited directly into the student s university account. The Office of Budget and Financial ervices and OM Financial Aid Office will determine how a monetary award is to be disbursed. Receipt of an award or scholarship may reduce a student s calculated need and so reduce eligibility for financial aid. Each student s financial situation is considered on an individual basis. KEY: The chart on the following pages lists, in alphabetical order, the awards that are reviewed by the s and cholarship ommittee and announced at UIOM-P s annual awards banquet. U = University level awards; = ollege-level s; = ite-level s. Nominations for awards are solicited annually between January and March unless otherwise noted. s Page of 6
